Best Video Game Console for XMAS

Want to get my kids a Video Game console for XMAS. Which is the one to get? XBOX 360? PS3? Wii?

Any help is appreciated.

Well The Wii is a activity that the entire family can play. It is not just sitting and pushing buttons, but you need to put your body into it.

I am getting a PS3. I like the games, and have played friends alot, and enjoy it.

The Wii really is fun for the whole family. If money isn't a concern maybe go for the PS3, rock band is pretty fun. We have a Wii and a PS2. If they don't have a game system now, they will probably love any of them.

Thanks for the replys so far. Kids are 6 and 9 years old and currently have an old PS one that I had.

PS3 is backward compatible with their old games. So if they like any of their current games they can play it on the new console. Also get a remote for the PS3 and use it for your DVD player. Also note the PS3 is Blue Ray compatible. Look at what it costs for a Blue Ray DVD player and the PS3 is a bargin.

I've got a PS3 and I feel the exact same way. If you look at its capability, it's priced very reasonably. I've had mine since April and I use it more for Blu-Ray and DVDs than gaming. The firmware update this summer gave it capability to upconvert standard def. DVDs.

For 6 and 9, I'd probably recommend the Wii. There are more games catering to younger children. Save the killing of Call of Duty until they're older.

I'm not a prude, but do 6 and 9 year olds really need to kill anything?

If you are buying the console for kids then get a Wii. If you are buying it for adults then it is a toss up between the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

Pros of the 360:
best on-line play
more games
better games
cheaper price
better controller

Pros of the PS3:
more capable system (blue ray player, expensive version is backward compatable)
better graphics
better reliability (360 has some warranty issues which they are covering but still a hassle)

I have a 360 and prefer it to the PS3. I may switch over to PS3 if they get their games up to par with the 360, but i prefer on-line play and 360 has that dominated right now with X-box live.

I'd agree the wii is better for younger kids, it's fun for adults too though.

Between the PS3 and 360 I like the PS3, they're both good but the PS has better graphics and can play blue ray. And halo 3 sucked.

I've had a wii for almost a year now and all the nieces and nephews love it. PS3 and 360 are great for serious gamers, but the wii is hands down the most fun for kids from what I've seen.
A wii is on everyone's Christmas list so good luck hunting one down.
