Best sled for it's respective year...

'98 RMK 700. Couldn't be touched by any other sled at the time.

I had a 700 RMK.
I honestly think the 670 summit was better sled.
The 700 ran strong & maybe was a better point & shoot sled,
but the s-chassis summits were far better at carving & boondocking.
My opinion may be wrong, but I think to say the 700 was in a class
by itself is a huge overstatement.

1979 Skidoo Blizzard 7500 Plus, the little 340 turned really high revs. I got really good at fixing fiberglass because that’s what the belly pan was made of. It came with factory twins and mine had no silencers just stingers that exited out the side. It also had a 16.5 inch wide track. It was that last decent Skidoo I owned before switching to Polaris (1993 XLT SKS).

dont you mean 96 summit 670 with mark thompson.

That is the story I've heard most often. The '96 was the 1st year S-chassis and came with a 1.5 x 136 track. I've also heard that in '95 an Indy Storm was the first sled over, but I've not heard that story anywhere near as often.

As far as most influential modern sled, that has got to be the 1980 TX-L Indy. That sled proved IFS was necessary if you were going to compete. Aside from engine designs, nothing really changed in 23 years until the REV. The REV would be the second most influential modern sled.

another vote for the 97/98 700 rmk, still ride with acouple of these sleds and they don't get left behind, deep pow this winter they track poached but any other day they hang with us, the boys are just more beat up when they get back to the truck:beer;

96 - 97 XLT were great trail sleds. My wife rides a 97 to this day and won't trade up.
85 Skidoo Formula MX. I bought one brand new and thought I was king of the hill

First sled we bought was a John Deere Liquifire 440. Then we bought a 91 + 92 Mach 1 583's. Then we had 1 95 Summit 670 (tank), and a 96 Summit 500 (much better S-Chassis). Now we have 2 Cats, 04 1M 900 Mountain Cat + 05 1M 900 King Cat. The Summits were great sleds. No problems ever and they ran great, only thing is my dads 95 was the huge beast and it would take a snow cat to pull that fscking sled out when you got it stuck. The AC's we have now are awesome, I could do without the Attack 20 on my King Cat, but I can't complain about the sled. It will take me up anywhere I don't have the balls to go. heh. I'm gonna put a Camo Challanger on it hopefully make it a better all around machine for all conditions.

I always liked my cousins T-cat 1000's. I can't remember what year they were, but it didn't take too long to cover a stubble field wot.

04 KC
07 Apex MTX
03 Mountain Cats
07 M-Series
99 RMK 700
04 Summit REV
02 Summit ZX
01 Mtn Max 700

03 F7. It totally changed the power levels expected from a 700. Who knew that within 2 yrs the M series would be born from Firecat blood and change what a mountain sled was all about.

PUD - the Summits never came stock with a 2" lug until 1996
ak - Yes, 1996 was the first year that a stock sled made it over the top at Jackson - ridden by Mark T - Summit 670

Best sled for its respective year - 1994 Ski Doo Formula 583. This sled was classed, raced and won in the 700 class (despite being less than a 600cc displacement) due to its power output.

Spud...when I was coming out yesterday, I wizzed past that sled pretty fast...almost broke my neck looking back at that thing sitting there. HAHAHA.

97 700 rmk polaris

This sled changed mt. riding forever.

There were a LOT of teal colored wedges on the snow that year...WOW there were a lot.
