OK, this is obviously a bordom induced thread.

Everybody pick one (only one to keep responses short & readable) sled &
explain why you think it was the best sled for that year.

I will pick the 1980 John Deere Liquifire.
This 2nd generation Liquifire was ....1-fast, 2-reliable & 3-awsome handling for it's time.

A bonus is this model Liquifire became the swan song for Deere in the sled bis.
They went out with a winner!

Dude they ran, no doubt about it. But im going to hand it to the Trailfire. Or even better yet, my spitfire with a 440 in it :)

For todays sleds?

04-06' Kingcat
05' M7
99' Poo 700
06' REV 800
07' Apex

Ohh cant forget the 99' Powderspecial 700. Most reliable sled on the snow

04 Rev Summit................................Forever changed the design of the modern sled
08 Nytro MTX...........................................(if it could be trusted it would have been the 08 XP Summit)

'93-'94 Polaris XLT SKS. With pipes, I think these things were the best all around sled for a few years until the '97 700 twin came out, which basically obsoleted the triples. There were a few worthy challengers, though.

'94 ZR 580
Took razor sharp handling to a new level, & handled the rough very well.
It seemed like any time this sled was airborne, the landing was predictable & controlled.

(on a down side, if someone farted outside, you needed to change jets)

Nate, you have any pics & info of said sled?

I have a Sprintfire I was thinking of doing a similar project to.

Ya ill have to go down and take a look at it. I broke the throttle cable on it, hasnt been ran this year. Fun sled though, it would wheelie if it had enough clearence HAHA. Its FUN to get that sled stuck :D Just took a trailfire 440 motor and just dropped it right into the spitfire. Had to modify the hood and carbs to get it all to fit but in the end probably one of the funnest sleds I have ridden. Its my mail getter in the winter :face-icon-small-hap

77 Elan with Moto-ski 500 twin nestled under the hood...... nah, really the best boondocker of all time would be the 04 RX1 !!

'87 Trail Indy or '93 XLT. Fast, great suspensions, and dependable. I don't think they've made an engine since that sounds as sweet as that XLT triple.

This will probably tip off how old I really am but I will vote for the 1972 Rupp Nitro 440, very light, nimble and very quick, and then a vote for the 1998 Summit "X" 670, brute torque and dead reliable.

I beg to differ the 93 Skidoo Summit/ was the first out of the box sled to make it to the top of the jackhole hill climbs.
