Best sled for 4k

M7 no question. In my experience there hasnt been an 800 rev that would run with my M7 162 (only mod an SLP can) in really deep snow. With as many miles as I got out of that thing I would have been on my 3rd motor with a REV. Ever wonder why most of the REVs you see for sale say "new motor"??

Bmoc

as stated by your height and weight, you're on the larger side of the sledding demographic. personally i would recommend the 900 cat or the 1000 doo and even the 900 poo. all of these 2005 -2006 can be found at the tip of your price range. i just scored an 05 rt with 362 miles for 4000 so i know the deals are out there regardless of where you live. patience can pay off if you put in the leg work. good luck on your venture and post what you end up getting.

Thanks for all the opinions. I really feel the 800 rev with a pipe will have plenty power for me. The 900 poos seem to have a bad rep from what i gather, and personally i eally don't care for that chassis much the running boards are just too narrow.

The rev is a good choice, but honestly I would consider a RT1000 since your a bigger guy. I have ridden a 07 800 144" rev and it seemed to lack power big time, coming from a cat 900. And the RT1000 will leave both behind and leave you more money for mods.

I wouldn't be caught dead riding a poo either! :D

K, im not sure if your looking to buy a little older sled, but I just picked up an 04 King Cat. I was shopping in the exact price range you were. around 3500 to 4000, and all the m7's I looked at were real beat up and the revs usually had a good amount of miles. I'm a bigger guy too. The 900 engine in the 04 really gets me to where i want to go. Its all about what you want to do and the price you are willing to pay. The king cat i bought only had 1800 miles and was only cost me 3000. Hope that helps you a little in your decision.

Best of luck to you

I am 6'2" and 220. I have been riding an '05 M7 153 for the last two years. Prior to that I had a lightly modded Edge 800 RMK. The M7 is borrowed but I will be buying it with my $4000 this year. I wouldnt touch a REV with a 10 ft pole. The reliability is terrible from everything I have seen and read. Broken nun's and broken engines, no thanks. I ride where a helicopter would be the only way out for a broken sled. The M7 with the Attack 20 in hillclimb position climbs with my buddies '08 Skidoo 800 easily. It climbs with the 800 Edge Poo's too. In short, it climbs whatever I want and the deep snow handling is miles ahead of an old style chassis. M7 this year, M1000 next year and the GF will get the M7. It is for sure the best sled for the money, and there are tons of mods for it if you need more.

You are in a tough position. I have ridden the edge chassis RMK, an 800 Rev, King Cat and owned a 1M800 an M7 and now an M8. Personally I don't think the Rev is much of an upgrade from your Edge. I had a hard time boondocking on the Rev. I couldn't man handle that thing! I am 5'11 175 lbs. I had an easier time on the King cat than the Rev. My choice for that money would be the M7... or keep the one you have until you can afford a better upgrade. Good luck!

If you can find a 2006 king cat they are a GREAT sled. The 05 EFI is a awsome sled too. The 06 just has fox air shocks and a front dump exhaust stock.

definitely go for the m7 or 8 if tou can . Im only 175 but my stock m 7 with a can easly kept up with the rev 800's and would out climb them occasionly.Ive ridden revs and they dont compare to the agility of the m series

I have an 06 rev and its really reliable. Was the fastest sled in a largly deviersified group last year on several ocasions. It has the slp power package. Its been really reliable for me. And it gets ridden hard. Plus its not nearly as fugly as the AC's in your price range.

Thats definately a matter of opinion! I think that Rev is one of the ugliest sleds OF ALL TIME! I'm not saying that a King Cat is the best looking sled made but seriously...a Rev???

Oh yeah...we ride with a guy that rides a Rev 800 and it breaks down every year in Wyoming. Atleast it is minor stuff like burning down the top end, or the clutch falls apart!

What a joke, If it's not the sled a person rides/owns then its all junk. Guys just want an honest opinion and most of the time all they hear is "this is what I would buy" cause this is what I ride so it's the best. BLAH BLAH BLAH:confused: O ya I ride an 04 Rev cause it's the best LMAO

Thanks for all the honest opions.
I'm deffinatly going to stick to a newer chassis. I decided to just wait and try to ride them on the mountain to see what i like best. King Cats are great power machines but i don't want to waist my time with an older chassis.

I do ride with 4 900 cats all are basic mods (pipe/can maybe reeds a few lt.wt. parts and one even has a 144x2 2/1 camo and twins and it rips. Your best bet is to ride them first like you said. Alot also depends on set up.

No it is not a joke. The guy asked for peoples "opinions" on the best sled for 4 grand. No one can make a "factual" statement about that. If people like what they ride then that is what they will recommend. If we have run into bad experiences (like my buddy with the Rev) then we will share that as well. You don't need to get your panties in a bunch because I said something bad about Revs. He loves his Rev and that is why he is still riding it!
