Best sled built for the mountain so far?

I think the M-7. Here's my logic; M-8's no more power just weight, King Cat was impressive but fell short on handling, M-1000 pretty good for some people , but still heavier for boondocking.

The 800 Revs, There's one that could be a contender. It's certinly close if not the winner. A lot of blown engines though. You have to count that against them. The new XP should have been the final answer, but it seems that they screwed that up. If they get the bugs out , it's got all the right stuff. We were hoping it would hit a home run. Maybe if they get the bugs out.

The older RMKs, the best in their day.........but I said so far. The Dragon could be a contender. What do you think?

The Yamis are very interesting, but without boost, they're not in the running.

Out of the box 06 800 Summit X 159 with 05 M7 162 and 01 800 RMK SCS tied for 2nd.If the XP was without a few issues it would top my list hands down as after almost 600 miles it's by far my favorite!

You need to clarify. Best out of the crate or after a little work done to correct the manufacturer mediocrity safe zones?

Handling? Power? Weight? Reliability? Ease of modification? Quality of build?

It really boils down to brand preference and rider choice. You can make what you want of what you choose.

i guess i dont really have voice on this as i have only owned one sled in my life. i sure would like to ride an xp and d8 though. those two sound like pretty dang good contenders.

I just put in RKT's drop in kit in to my 06 800 Summit X 159 . It seems like it will be fun in the hills next month . Should have the power of the XP but heavier . Time will tell! Nick:D

If you're talking deep powder, the ZX's were awesome. Not the powerhouses the new 800's are but they would rip all day in fresh snow.

OT - High Voltage did you get the MPEM re-curve done? If not I highly recommend it, I was baffled at the difference it made.

Thats what I was thinking! I'm love the 01' summit 800 with a 162, rkt pistons, and a tunnel! Doah! Buddy has an 06' REV 800 159 and it will run right next to a new M1000 162 in the wicked deep. Don't know! Something about the old REV chassis that Ski-Doo dun got figgred out!

this is real easy the one that you like to ride dont matter what it is as long as you like it & you have fun on it:D:beer;:beer;

Comming from a 1m to an M7 and previous chassis before then and trying the XP was really different. It has 1000 power for sure. Does not feel like an 8, but I was not on it long enough to really get a handle on the chassis.

I like the sled that puts a big grin on my face, and thats my M7, I frown at the fuel pump though

And AKRMK, he doesnt ride an M7, he rides a 1M. His opinion isnt biased, just being Owen

Well from the title of this thread I'm assuming you are looking for opinions about a bone stock sled that was built for high elevation... King Cat, you could walk all over anything with a stock king cat.

After owning all the sleds mentioned...RMK, M's,Apex,Rev. My vote is clearly with the '07 Rev. This is BY FAR the most capable, consistent, best running and reliable sled I have ever owned.....once I got rid of the junk stock track and put on a Camo.
I ride with XP's and I'm betting they will be the new king but they just need a little more time to prove themselves. The clutching problems made into a big deal on this site are easily fixable.
The M's were great in the deep, but the ride, ergos and clutching are all marginal, as is power.
Older RMK's....well, just feel like a dinosaur compared to newer chassis. Newer RMK's.....havn't run across any (yet) that are competitive with the Doo's.
Apex....boat anchor.

You crack smokers are hilarious.:D:eek:

I'll agree, an Apex or a Nytro isn't even really competitive without a turbo! But then you have 20 grand in a sled! Sorry, I could just barely afford to rebuild my zx.

as i remember w/b used to be one of the biggest cat supporters on the old forum, next to owen who owns this thread, what are you on there slick and whats your choice on the topic? for me its the 06 x 151. wish i would have never sold it

Stock? LMAO. Who cares which one is less of a dud than the other, but that's my opinion. I'd give it to the last few doo's for that honor, but in the lightly modded/well tuned category I like the M7 for a great overall mtn sled.

You basically need a reliable tough sled that while hang with most guys .. id knock skiddoo right off the list b/c the revs arent relaible ive never seen a good reliable long lasting rev , they go like snot but meh. The old zx would be a good sled same with a older rmk 700, never heard to much problems from them, for cat definatly a king cat , and for yami mtn max or rx ton would do alright. you wont be leading the pack with those but they sure as hell will outlast some of these new sleds.
