best skis for steep and deep!?

How about slp pp's with dual carbides to reduce darting on the trails??? anyone try this yet

SLP has those little anti-dart "wings" for their SLT's....I ran these and this combination was the all-around BEST ski I have ever run, both on trails and in the deep.....I was impressed, not too aggressive and no darting, easy to steer. :beer;

No questions asked Powder Pro's are my hands down favorite and it is one of the first things I buy for a sled. I think that cutting the tails out makes a difference too have one with tails and one without and there is a noticable sidehilling difference.

Do you have a picture of said tailless ski? That must be the Carls cycle mod I've heard about?

I agree. I have pp's and love them. After I cut them, it was even better.
It makes side hilling easy and you can just "point and go."
The down side is when the snow is a little hard, or a crust,
you need to hang on tight!!!!!
For me the good out weighs the bad.

Shout out to Nick at Curve Industries

Wanted to weigh in on this issue as it is getting to be time to start looking for up grades or add ons. Last year I decided to try a set of Curve XS skis , I live in the great state of Alaska and typically ride mountains and boondock . I ride a modded 04' Rev Renegade and I have had a fair share of skis in my days. The last set was Powder Pros, awesome powder ski but not the best all around ski for the ever changing conditions in Alaska . After riding the skis for a season in Alaska,I'm very impressed by the way the skis handle every type of snow condition that I threw at them. The skis carved and side hilled awesome . In the crusty snow where the PP's were darty the Curve skis handled it with ease of mind . They didn't push in the corners on the way to the mountains and being wide they held the weight of the front end of the Rev up.They were by far the most versatile ski I've tried on this chassis.Nick is a awesome person to deal with and most helpful on setups. Just my 2 cents on by far the best mod you can do to your sled, skis. That being said do yourself a favor and buy a set of the curve xs skis and you'll be happy you did !!

so do aftermarket skis make it easy to carve and boondock in the powder? im thinkin of ditching the stock M skis but I'm not a huge hill climber.. I was lookin at the Sly Dogs or the USI triple threats.. any input? i figured id just post in here instead of making a new thread

you guys might think this is NUTZ but my wifes m7 with the old mountain cat or king cat parabolic skis with the double carbides rock on the trail and in the deep hold a side hill very well. have had may of my buds ride the trail with it and say "WOW" this thing handles very well and at half the price. just my 02

Yeah what he said about parabolic skis , check out the curve skis they rock on my renegade!!

I would like to hear more reviews from people that have ran MODS. I know a few people don't like the looks but to me that doesn't matter. I will run the ugliest ski out there if its the very best all conditions.

Mod ski's work really well.. the big down fall with them.. is NO give.. you hit a rock/stump with them.. they wont give like any N/A ski would.. they just send all that force right through the chassis.. they are very hard on a-arms and bulkheads..

everybody keeps saying PP's.. :rolleyes:.. wrong answer IMO.. I've tried several different variations of them on cats, doos, poos, in lots of different snow.. never felt like they steered or floated better than simmons.. except on super hard spring snow..

Simmons are the #1 choice by far.. genI or genII.. I love them both.. the genII's take some getting used to however.. once you figure out how to manipulate the sled with these clown skis on.. they are the best thing out there IMO for the steep and deep

ive been running triple threat skis with just the stage one fins and they did great in the powder....im sure if u ran the recommended stage 3 they woudl be even better. the stage ones were amazing on the trails. just my .02. hope it helps!
