i am thinking about trading up my jaws twins for a good single and can, what is everyone running? slp, dyno-port, speed werks? i ride from about 5000 to 7000 ft :)

My understanding is the stock single pipe itself is hard to beat by much in terms of ridability and broad powerband... the can of course you can beat with a stick or most any aftermarket can. :D I am running stock pipe with aftermarket can (not sure which brand as it was on the sled when I got it), I like the combo, but a little noisey so I have to wear ear plugs.

i have a buddy that has a stock pipe that he said i could have, what does it cost to get them coated? I am thinking about the rk tek kit or a terra alps kit in the spring and i know theyt won't work with twins. what Y pipe is best? stock or something else?

PM GoHighFast - he had his stock 03 800 single pipe and y-pipe coated, not sure the cost though. I am sure someone else can chime in here and give a cost estimate. His stock pipe was in good shape, but due to the insulation keeping moisture under the clamshell, there was some rust and pitting on his stocker... he always covers his sled too. Speaking from experience there, I just put his clamshell on my sled, sanded and painted my pipes (I have 2), but there is some pitting there...

Check with Big John. At one time he was selling RLE restrictors for the stock DOO pipe which did very well for high altitude riding. I had one on my 02 HMX before I got a deal on the Dynoport. I have always ceramic coated my stock pipes about $140 US.

So which Y pipe should a guy go with ? stock or something else ? and what about can's? I'm leaning towards the "thing" because they are built in revy (kinda local) and I have heard good things

Stay with a stock pipe if your motor is mostly stock. For the pipes that do have gains they are minimal for the money. Spend the $ on some clutching and a muffpot.
