best pump gas turbo on m8

At least the Boondocker EFI controll seams to be working good. Looks to have good temp and altitude compensation. Also that we where able to tune the low and mid range with bigger injectors was good.

And as I have sayd earlier: For 0-4500ft go for a race kit with extra injectors and lower the compression. It is possible to run 10-12psi boost at sealevel with turbo on pumgas but it require good knowledge of the tuner, and enough FUEL.

At higer altitudes it should be possible to run 12-15psi boost with pumpgas and the right mods and tuning.

And other thing that was very good on the M8 is the Deto system. It did display code as soon as it leaned out.

how are ovs pump gas kits? if i get a turbo dakota performance will build it cuz they have built the rest of my sleds and jeff works with ovs so he knows how to put them together right,

I would say to talk to Jeff too. I don't know how many different types of kits he uses but I know two buddies that got race gas turbos from Jeff and they were basically the push turbo with the power commander V's. They were also suppose to be the exact same set up and for some reason Jeff installed differerent size turbos. Not trying to bad mouth just telling what happened to two close friends. I know at one time he did alot with OVS but have no clue if that is still the case.

he installed 2 different turbos on 2 sleds that are suppose to be the same?:face-icon-small-con

yes... the turbo itself is different on the two. I don't know the exact model used on each sled but I know they are not the same. The one was smaller. They were not happy because they ride together all the time and wanted to get the two dialed in especially since they were using the power commander V's and have to hook it up to the computer to tweek.

Whats the problem with that?? You kan get several diffrent turbos with in very simular hp, even from the same brand...But you dont need simular siced turbos for identical engines, it all depends what you want from your sled.

I would have got it installed and tuned from a experienced tuner. And if that tuner is use to diffrent kits, very good, then he knows whats the diffrence on each kit. And my be able to recomend the best kit for your use.

So what are there for kits that are able to be run at low elevation (1300ft) reliably. Can you just turn a cpc or bd pump gas kit down to say 4 pounds of boost and jsut throw in a couple gallons of race gas or av and be ok.
Im looking into a kit and need to find if I could even be able to ride it around home at all between trips out west.

Another problem is that the WG that was in my PG kit did not manage to go lower than 6psi. I had to change the WG actuator and port and open up the wg outlet in the exhaust house. Then i manage to run 4,5 psi. If you do so you should be able to run safe, but 4,5 psi is not fun..:( I can't wait to get my upp to 10psi, as i think 6,5 isn't enough...

I run a CPC kit on my m-6. Nice kit but I really have to put a plug in for Shain at Twisted and Monty at Ghost Riders in Fernie. These guys helped me get my sled running right. Shane even donated some parts that would have cost me a bundle! Monty put in some personal time to come out and ride it and tune it too.

Definately its not so much about the kit as it is about the guys providing the service!

X2 regarding Shain. It is fun to talk to someone like Shain who obviously loves what he is doing. Looks like the 2 stroke turbo market and properly functioning kits have finally come of age...can't wait to see what the next few years brings to the market.

if i get a turbo it would be a pump gasser, i wouldnt mind a kit from shain, he sounds like he has a reliable product, and id be riding at 8-10k feet, my elevation at homes 1-2k and i wouldnt be riding a turbo around here anyway, only time id be riding it is out in west yellowstone and cooke city so prob 500 miles on it a year if that

Get a hold of Twisted or we can help you out on a Twisted kit. Pump gas is ok, but I would run it around 10 lbs and run 50/50. The fun factor is just so much greater!:face-icon-small-hap

I agree , dont waste money on a pump gas set up on an 8 . Get a race gas set up from Shain to start with , do your self a favor. Once you ride a TTM8 at 12 lbs you wont be thinking about what fuel costs.

I have ran alot of Sunoco through my 8 and it rips , every time i pull the rope. 4 injectors is where its at.:smokin:

Yeah, I set my M1000 up for pump gas and that lasted about 15 miles. Next ride I am running 50/50.....and now straight 112. I know race gas is expensive, but I just cut out my 10 Rockstars a week, which gives me 6 gallons of race gas a week free. Sounds cheesy, but I try to justify all this to myself!

2011 M8 at 5000-7000ft

What are the opinions with respect to which pump gas turbo provides the most rpm's and least problems. I will be riding a 2011 M8 at 5000-7000ft?

Has anyone tested the new Push Turbo G PG?

Thanks!

I have have been tuning a BD M8T pumpgas kit the hole evening now..And even at 6,5psi boost it was to lean to run any longer wot runs (100% dutycycle). 6,5psi was the lowest we got with a other wastgate actuator I had available. The one that came with the kit gave 10psi ????? What is wrong with this kit makers?? Ok this is a sea level, but anyway we should be able to run as low boost as the fuelsupply is able to deliver.

And I think its some sort of the same problem with the other PG kits available.

If you go for PG kit and run at lower elevation, buy a racekit and turn the boost down. Then you at least have enough fuel if you need.

If you are going to run the bd kit at low elevation they sell a 4lb actuator for around $40 or $50. I am shocked they didn't tell you this. Did you tell them that you were going to run it at low elevation? I have a bd pump gas kit with the 4lb actuator and it is running great. I haven't touched any setting at all.
