Best place to stay in McCall?

Going down there this March for the first time, whats your best experience with cabin rentals or lodges down there? Should be 10-15 people going.

76FOMOCO--

Can you ride out of Meadowood lodge? I dont wanna have to have to load up and trailer the sleds afer already driving 5 hours to get to McCall.

I think this is about the only place you can. call them they are good people and will help you out. I set up a trip last year and could not make it (McCall is in my back yard) with my wife and she did most of the leg work. Pm ac47x he can help you out more with this as he lives just out of town.

if you do have to load up it is not more than a few minutes drive unless you go to west mountain ;);)

Yha, McCall is setup kinda funny. There's only one hotel/lodge type place you can ride out of, that I know of. All the chain hotels are on the wrong side of town. There are some cabins to rent, that you might be able to ride out of. McCall is generally a trailering town.

We stayed at a time share on the North East side of the lake about 7years ago, not sure if its still there. It was at the end of the road, groomer started there. Can't remember the name of it. I do know you could only ride towards Warren from there at the time. Guys in McCall are always willing to help out as stated in other posts.

Here's a map of the area.

Meadowood Loddge is Right across the Hwy from the "West Face" Parking lot. Look for a big P on the map, and WEST FACE.

The time share your talking about, is on the right hand side of Payette Lake. The trail is groomed over that direction some, but not very often, depending on conditions. You can access Warren Wagon Road, and go to Burgdorf or Secesh, or Warren areas, up North. Or, you can come back south a couple miles, and take that trail marked 'U' to 'T', and access all that country up behind Brundage.

I don't care how hard you try, you can't ride all that territory, in a month.

I'll give you a little hint. On the map, you see where the trail from the Time share comes into Warren Wagon Road. Instead of crossing the bridge to Warren Wagon, Go up the hill instead. And, try not to get your self killed up there. :)

Another source of Information for the McCall area.

The McCall Area Snowmobile Club has a web site that has quite a bit of information on the resources of the town (the business' that support our recreation, including the grooming.) The web site is being redesigned right now and hopefully will be much better when done. We will have up to date grooming information directly on it. We are also working with the Forest Service, to try and improve the maps and signage in our area before the snow flies this fall. http://www.snowmobilemccall.net/

Spud.

There are a lot of houses for rent also. Go to InIdaho.com and click on McCall.
They have listings for cabins, condo's and houses for rent. If you do make contact with someone about a house ect. be sure to ask about trailer parking.
We stayed at a cabin last year that was a little ways out of town. Every time we went riding we had to unhook the trailer to turn it around.

A group of us went a few yers ago and rented a house in town , worked out great house had a ton of room and was decently priced.
