best pipes for viper?

i have a 2005 yamaha mountain viper. last weekend i blew a botom rod bearing and i was thinking while i have the thing tore down this much might as well put pipes on.

i have hurd of lots of brands of pipes for vipers i was just wondering what some people experienced with them and what are some good brands?

I always heard good stuff about the SLP products when I was running my Viper. It will definetly make it touchy at low elevation though.

SLP worked great on my viper, really woke it up. Wished they would have made the silencer a little smaller to save some weight and really open up that tripple - tripple sound, but they worked flawlessly and their recommended set up worked perfectly for my elevation (0-5000 feet). Fit and finish was usual SLP top notch quality.

Second choice would have to be Bender, but over on the TY forums you will see that SLP is the preferred choice. Good luck.

Viper Pipes

CPR Simmons gets my first vote then SLP. As must do is ceramic coat them too. My modded 2004 MNT Viper has the CPR Simmons.

Before ceramic coat.

I never ran a Yamaha, but my friend did and had several different makes of pipes from SRX's, Viper, to Sxr.

Simmons CPR were by far the best built pipes I've seen of any of them. They really woke up the Viper. I was just really impressed with them all around.

love my ceramic coated slps, havent had any problems and their jetting/clutching charts are very accurate

We had a bunch of guys with piped vipers around here. The Simons CPR's were the prefferred pipes for us and we did try many of the others mentioned.

Had them ALL and the slps worked best not only on the dyno but in the field, strange cause on the mm 700 they were junk......02

Peak HEads

The Peak Heads were installed by the previous owner. I do not think the are difficult, mind you my buddy is the Yamaha dealer in town and the sled was purchased and set up by him. At the time the previous owner wanted either the blue or titanium colored heads but MPI had none available. I personally would of preferred to have the others than the red and was going to sell the red one, but I put the money into a P-85 clutch and Ohlins for the rear suspension.
