Best clutch weights for M series?

I'm completely out of my element in trying to clutch my new M8.

I know Yamaha clutching inside and out but, I sure could use some help on the 09 M8.

There are Arctic Cat weights, SLP MTX weights, Culter adjustable weights, heck there's even Heavy Hitters (which I am very familiar).

SLP loves their weights but, you have to break apart the primary and shim the spider to make them work properly.

The stock weights (to the best of my knowledge) are not adjustable.

I love the idea of the Culter adjustable weights since they are the same profile as the stock weights but, do they work well?

The Heavy Hitters have worked great for me on my Yamahas and they make them for Arctic Cat applications, yet I have never heard of anyone even trying them. Why?

Super Tips. Do they make them for Arctic Cat applications?

Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to adjust my SLP mtx weights tonight and noticed that the weights are locked onto the bolts witha set screw allowing the entire bolt to move with the weight. So if you tighten the nut too tight is seems to make the weight movement too stiff. I would like some input on this issue myself...

Go with Cutler's adjustable weights. You'll hate yourself for buying anything else.
Not too sure on springs with an M8, ask Dale for his advice.

Thanks Team Pigeon.

Yup, to me it sounds like a no brainer as well. Instead of buying a dozen set of weights (like I have for my Yammys) you just have one set and tune them to perfection.

Does anyone want to sell a set of Cutler adjustable weights?

I can't speak for the Cutler weights but, on the heavy hitters you CAN add or remove weight from the heel (low end power) without compressing the sheaves.

To add or subtract from the mid and tip (once again on heavy hitters) you have to compress the sheaves. I usually do it by pulling the outer clutch cover, remove the primary spring and then compress the sheaves and add or subtract weight. This can be done in 10 minutes and you are back testing.

cutlers

Another vote for cutlers here. Super easy to add or delete weight when you need it. A bit expensive initially but worth every penny in the end.

I'm running the Dalton's, which if I remember right are a copy of the Cutlers, ya you can adjust weight without compressing the primary. It's a series of set screws of varying length (weights) and they thread in from the heel straight down the long axis of the weight. Easy cheesey lemon breezey:D

i have tryed arctic cat weights, cutlers adjulstabels weight and heel-clicker on my m8 07.
cutlers works good and easly to adjust, but for me i like the heel-clicker best, the sled pulls much harder.

Cultlers And Daltons don't compare because of profile and weight distribution. Each have their own benefits.

Careful, the heavier Daltons don't fit the M clutches. Tip hangs up, causes the rollers to be your sheave stop. Not good.

Those heel clickers will destroy your primary, be careful. Last set I saw took the primary out at about 1500 miles.

I have used supertip weights in my m8.They take some getting used to but they work good. The best thing about them is you can add so much weight to them, if you go from 3000 feet to 10000 feet you can use the same weight.

Cutlers here. Very adjustable and they take care of you when they freeze to the shaft. lol Careful with the lock juice.

I had no idea Dalton made adjustable weights for Cats.

I'll be giving Dale Toole a call.

Now, I'd want 65-75 gram weights for a 09 piped M8 at 3,500-7,000 ft, right?

question for Geo

You were saying that the heavier daltons don't work on the M's. Now what is the exact weight of the ones that doesn't work. I just put in the 67.5 to 75 gram weights in. The second ride out one of the rollers that the weights ride on wore out, and my primary clutch was sticking wide open causing it to kill my sled when I would let off the throttle. Does this have anything to do with thw weights themselves or was it just because the roller got to hot.

Vote for CPC from here too. Absolutely awesome product!

And use two screws: Bigger for weight and smallest screw as an lock screw. No more lock juice needed.
