Best Boondocking track for the 163 Pro?

Curiouse to see what people have used for tracks the past two seasons on there Pro's..... Ive always used the stock 5.1 and found it to be a great all around track. I have a few buddies asking about what tracks to use this up coming season... They are on 163 Pro's and i hear the challenger extreme and the 166 polaris track both work great. Keep in mind they ride the trees and climb all day, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Camo x

Really liking mine.
Hooks up way better than the stocker on rocks, stumps, dirt, snirt etc.
Even works good on snow.
Really like being able to stop downhill also.
Hits the sweet spot between float (stock) and trencher (peak)

Ive heard stories that a Pro with a 166 track is not even comparable to the stock 163 track.... the 166 track has almost twice the paddles im told but i also know that it is the heaviest track polaris ever made..... Anyone on here thats installed a 166 track in a pro and would like to share there findings?

Doesn't this really depend on the type of snow more than riding style?

I know for me, most of my winter is 10 degrees either side of 0. Coastal areas like Valdez and the Kenai can get heavier snow but for the most part AK snow is dry powder. My biggest challenge is tree riding in the sugar, not the concrete. You really have to make slow speed accelerations smooth or you'll trench in a second.

The 5.1 is an excellent all around track. A PC or CE is perfect for spring snow.

X2- I put the Power Claw on my Dragon but will keep the 5.1 on the Pro.

I hope the best Boondocking track will be new CAMO#9220....
3"/15"/162" With 7tooth 3"pitch from Avid...
Cause it will be my track of choice this winter!!:face-icon-small-coo
Turned around by PAR 910!Yeah!
Bring on winter!

It seems the 5.1 works better at low speed, the PC needs to be spun to work and some say it needs a little more momentum than the 5.1, the CE is going to be your best stiff snow track.

The new PC should be even better. If you have the power to spin a PC its is the best powder track IMO by far.

My style I would take the PC hands down, don't care for a the 5.1 at all so options are CE or PC, and if the snow is harder and the CE can get the bite it will pull away.

I really like the stock track on my Pro. It's a 155, not a 163, but it works very well. A lot of guys like the Power Claw, but I have never been that impressed with it. I'd save the $ and run the stocker.

I know its important how ya ride, but I believe where ya ride is even more important, and maybe what time of the yr ya put your most miles on. The 5.1 loves the deep early and mid winter WY snow, but other tracks like the CE do better in snow with more grip and of course spring snow and the Wa west side snow. So we need both tracks and a little gremlin to keep it changed to the best track for our next ride.

The 2014 Pro will come with a button on the dash to pick the best track for conditions.

I had a Camo X with anti ratchets on my 2012 163 pro. I rode with a buddy in deep fresh. The 5.1 did better, however he is about 50lbs lighter. I am going to leave the 5.1 on my 13 and ride the sh!t out of it. I tried changing to many things on my 2012 like I did on my Dragon. I think the stock Pro is pretty good. IMO Ride it like you stole it and replace it after a year or two. But keep it maintained.

From the pros that I have ridden personally and from what I have observed from riding with others, with stock power, the stock track seems to work the best all around. Add a turbo and the camo extreme shines, but needs the additional power to gain full benefits. I haven't seen a peak on a 163 yet, but I imagine similar results to the camo extreme.

Have never riden a PC on a pro, but have seen plenty of M8's with PC's trench down and get stuck just trying to get moving!!! very unimpressive.

The peak sucked on the 163 that my buddy had. Changed it after 5 rides. Dont care how much it needs to supposidly break in, it does not work near as good as the CE. It was a trenching mofo. We did side by side tests on a 155 with the stock track compared to the CE on a fresh, west coast powder day and the CE was the Shiet. The stocker is an adequate, all around track, but not the best for the powder days out here.

FYI, the best boondocking track is hands down the 3" x 162. Has so much traction with the stock HP that it tractors around. The thing about tractors is that they are generally slow. If you are climbing in fresh, then the 2.5 CE seems to outperform it generally (better track speed, and stock HP). Im sure others have had different results, but this is just what we have observed out here.

One thing I have found more than anything else is how the suspension is setup, I have done some playing on the cats and the slightest changes you could beat a TM8 with a stock M6, but when right its a huge difference. The pro has some of the best geometry of any mtn sled and if you put a new 2.6 pc on it and set it up right I can almost guaranty its going to kick the chit out of the 5.1 in any snow. But if not setup different it could suck.

Just like the PC is heavier than the M8 but the PC gets on the snow way faster with the same motor and track yet heavier. All suspension.
