best ar sight for under $100

Bought a new Panther AR (for $600) and I need a sight for it. Prob a red dot but I dont know which are decent. Dont want to spend $300 for a sight on a $600 gun. Any suggestions would be appreciated. tia

I've used both Aimpoints and ProPoints on my AR15's and they weren't bad at all. You can usually find them under $100 used on ebay or craigslist. I am currently using an Eotech but it's much more money.

EoTech's are sick, I used them in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think I have an Aimpoint in a box in the garage. Do you have the rail system or the carrying handle?

Freak, let me dig through some stuff in the garage before you make a purchase. I'll PM this weekend and let you know what I come up with. I know I have a rear fixed sight if you need it but I'm 99% sure that there is an Aimpoint out there. You might have to pick up a spacer block if I can't find one laying around because I think I last had it mounted on a GUU with a carrying handle, and on those you use the duck bill mount without the spacer block.

Oh, and thanks for appreciation, none is needed though. My girlfriend is in Bagdad at the airport right now, she is complaining about the heat while I am excited about the snow!!! It feels weird being on this side of the deployment.

Makes me want an ACOG, but, what about a nice set of open sights?

BTW-BigHoe, thankyou for fighting for us!

There's nothing wrong with a good set of irons. You'll be more limited in low light situations. I use a GG&G flip up rear sight as a back up should my EoTech go down.
