Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
Well I bent the a-arm on my IQR race sled about an inch back. I am thinking of just pulling it off, putting it in the vice and bending it back to make it true. Obviously its going to be weaker than hell so I will need to reinforce it. How do you guys do it?
I was thinking of just taking a thin piece of steel and making a cover over the weld and welding it over the fixed crack along the back of the front portion of the arm. Then I am going to weld in a flat bar in between the A so it keeps it from doing that again.
If you must know how I did it; I was jumping a downed tree and it kicked me off sideways so I gave the kick and watched the sled land sideways and endo two times before coming to a stop upside down. MY RSI hand guards and Pro-taper bars were fine and there was no other damage to the sled.
IF that would have been a normal RMK chassis…. Lets just say I would be out at least $500 right now.
Ohh and the BOC 800 is one hell of a arm stretcher and the sound of those crank shop pipes when I catch air is so cool sounding. Its the most bad *** sled I have been on next to a D8 turbo.
Anhoo, hear is a diagram of what I would do. I am going reweld all the welds on the end. Green is new welds. Blue is added in bar for strength. And the red is to help keep my welds from breaking. If doesn’t make since I understand… Im not the best paint artist.
