Belt Life - M8

How often would you switch belts for optimum performance assuming the clutches are functioning properly, and the belts do not show excessive wear?

I have 2 belts that still look good, but have 1200 miles each on them. Debating on shelling out for 2 new belts for the upcoming season.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Matt

each of those belts have a few miles on them. I dont think Ive ever gotten that many miles out of a belt. I would say shell out the cash for two new belts. I think your question has alot of hidden variables in it. Are you riding in real heavy snow, fluff, does the sled have clutch vents, ect... I ussually start out each season with a brand new belt and keep the old belts that are not in to bad of shape as spares in my pack, if need be they are good to wrap around your skis when going down really steep hills.

belts

Both trail and powder miles. I do have vents. Never blown a belt on the 8 in 2400 miles (1 season). Probably 1/3 trail 2/3 off.

i put 1500-2000 miles a season, and they are hard miles. put a new belt on at the begining of every season...

Belt defection will tell you when to change. Properly clutched, the M8 is easy on the belts. But I too change mine at the beggining of the year.
