Belt drive

My thoughts exactly. Until they upgrade the motor, I see no reason to get excited about the 2013's (certainly not enuff to have the entire first page of this forum as a "sticky" - come on Eric!).

Have FUN!

If these rumors are true of only supporting one ratio, coupled with the stupid short CtoC distance relegating you to the stock driver and 2.5" lug max. I'll pass on the '13 also. They (Polaris Engineering) sure were extremely short sighted with what had could have been the best engineering innovation since slide rails and long travel suspensions. If they had done what I have detailed in previous posts the belt drive has unbelievable potential! As it is they engineered a lightweight pair of handcuffs for themselves.

Someone in the after market with a few dollars to spend can corner the entire sled market with incredible potential for unbelievable growth. Easily 1000's of units a year. Maybe I should pursue that.

C3 SyncroDrive For 2011-12 Pro

C3 is just releasing our pre production Syncrodrive Kit for the Polaris Pro 2011-12 models. This is a picture of the prototype which is now on the snow for testing. We are taking orders on production kits which will be available in approximately 4 weeks. The retail price will be $950 but I will be running an introductory offer until Aug of $875. Stock as well as other gear ratios are available.

We have been making the XP SyncrDrive kit for three years now and some of the first kits we sold have over 10,000km (6000mi) on the original belt. If you stick with the same gear ratio that you currently have you harder acceleration like you geared down and higher top speed like you geared up. When you push the sled off the truck it roles further because of less rolling resistance.

Every OEM sled will have a belt drive in the next 5 years but you can have one now.

Looks good! A couple questions:

- What is overall weight loss?
- Is there any reason you are not using shorter bolts (instead of the stock bolt with large spacers)?
- Can this be used with the AVID or ICE AGE extended chaincase?

Should be a popular mod for the guys with 2011/12 Pro's!!

C3 looks like it fits into are existing inner chain case is that correct?
How many different ratios do you have?
I am running a 19/43 now what would that equate to your system?
Can you explain why it would give me more top end?
Thanks Jim

Holy sh*t I'm in! how do we know what ratio to order and what options?
and what are the weight savings over stock setup?

you run a 2.26 ratio. You divide the larger number by the smaller number ie:43/19 = 2.26

by their chart for the xp you need a 63/28 =2.25

I thought the 2013 had all new driveshaft? was lighter and longer?

Geoff... Remember the display bare-chassis they had in the conference room... 2012 chassis with the new boards... Belt drive and the 2012 driveshaft..

The new driveshaft on the machines we drove is the same as the piece of extrusion that they had on display with the driveshaft... same length as previous years.

I talked to Kevin at C3 last week and it sounds like the way to go.

They have multi gearing ratios and they warrenty the belts up to 250hp so even with a turbo you are golden.

Cant wait to for next year, no reason to sno check a 2013 for me!

So I guess I could take the gear case and machine the case flat like a plate and the the C3 stuff would still go on and it would be as light as it could be, but not as light as the polaris stuff as there is not a tensioner on the factory set up,I think I would prefer the tensioner and the abality to change ratios, I still think the CMX set up is still the best, but money talks and BS walks!

On the C3 you can have different ratios

How would one lube the bearings on the pro belt drive?

Sealed so you wouldn't need to until replacing. You could remove the seal and repack if you were really anal about keeping them 100%, you'd just have to pull the shafts.

You can also order a set of the 13 boards and add them to your sled. That is unless your specifically wanting the air frames.

Yea but I doo all the mods in june and july I doubt any 13 parts will be available till at least sep oct!

C3 SyncroDrive Update

The prototypes have been running perfectly. The riders love it and the one I just talked to said he can't believe a belt can make that big of an improvement.

I installed a kit on Thursday and took 45 min for 2 of us including unloading the sled getting it in the shop, draining oil, removing gears and cleaning up the case, popping out bearing seals and greasing bearings (the oil washes the grease out) and installing the SyncroDrive kit.

I have ratios from 2.30 to 1.63 : 1 available. The production kit that I am offering at an introductory $875 will be arriving in about 2 weeks and 1/2 are already sold so if you want one order soon.

The kit fits all the Pro/Rush mountain and flat land models as well as the 2013 that don't come with the belt drive.
