Bed opinions: Sleepnumber or Tempurpedic?

Wife wants a new bed, she has narrowed it down to these two. What are you sleeping on? Pros and cons of each. Thank you

We have a very early sleep number bed. The same bed as it is today, but without the sleep number indicator.

Bed is probably about 15 years old and we have never have a had a problem with it........

I love the adjustability of the firmness. My side is much firmer than my wifes side......

I know they are spendy, but these beds last a Loooooooong time, probably twice as long as a traditional coil.

I slept in a few Tempurpedic beds in hotels over the last two years, and they were very warm, too warm. Your body heat heats up the mattress below you and seems to cook you in your sleep.

I like the fact that the sleep number bed does not get a sag in it,,,,,,,,,,,,, ever!

If you already have a box spring, you donot need to buy theirs, even though the sales guy strongly recommends it. A box spring is a box spring, no need to waste money on changing that out.......

Good luck and happy sleeps

Would like to see some more opinions as well. We are way past due for a new mattress and really need to start sleeping good again. I have looked at the Tempurpedic a little, but haven't really looked into any pros/cons of either.

I personally hate the tempurpedic, its hot like really hot pretty much like making a snow ball then tossing it into hell haha and i woke up felling ****tier then i did before i went to bed i actually woke up sore and i dont know how you are but if im hot theres no chance of sleep. In the summer its miserable in the winter its nice, stays cooler but still gets pretty toasty just my experience. Oh and i slept on the tempurpedic for 4 months every night to give it an honest chance. Now i have a costco bed, serta i believe with a 3" gel matress pad sleep like a baby, king size $680

We had the sleep number. Hated it for the two years we owned it. Just as well get a good air bed for camping. We have been wanting a tempurpedic, but if it is hot that won't work. I'm the same way, if I'm hot I can't sleep.

Sleep number never do it again Were getting something different both of us hurt every morning when getting up and we have had it for years. Yes we have tried all kinds of settings. the only good trhing is it's the same all the time. HOW CAN THEY CHARGE SO MUCH FOR A AIR MATRESS??????

We've had our tempurpedic for about 4 years and I really can't say I've had a problem getting hot.

We bought a Select Comfort in 1997 and still love it to this day. Make sure you get the pillow top for it if you buy one, the standard top just did not cut it for us. Another thing to keep in mind is that it never warms up. In the summer that is great but in the winter it was brutal. We bought a dual zone heated mattress pad and that cured that problem. You can both have different levels of inflation and different levels of warmth. I would not go back to a traditional mattress.

Bought a tempurpedic in 2005, kinda have mixed feelings about it, feels really good for the first few hours then i get sore and back out to the lazy boy big mans chair. Neither me or my wife get good sleep any more kinda been wondering the same about a sleepnumber, chiropractor in town says he gets better reviews with the sleepnumber from his customers, as far as heating up never really bothered me or my wife just keep it cool in the house for better sleep.

If you are a hot sleeper don't get anything with memory foam. Google "memory foam hot." I tried an air bed with memory foam on top of the air bladder for couple weeks and could never sleep more than 3-4 hours without waking up sweating and hot. I think all air beds have some sort of foam top. I was told a latex foam top wouldn't be hot, but didn't want to spent the $300 and find out different. I went out and bought an inner spring. Problem solved, but not as comfy. I sure miss my water bed. Always the right temperature...turn it up and be warm in the winter, turn it down and be cool in the summer. Unfortunately the house I moved into is old and has floor joists that I wasn't sure could handle the weight.

tEPERPic here. It does get warm at times but have never felt better in morning!!!! It has solved alot of my back problems. Wouldn't go back to regular matress.
