Beaver tail protection techniques

OK so the ramp has guides, and the deck has guides, but what about the round bar on the beaver tail that the ramp hooks on to and the cross bars… How are people protecting these parts from the ski scags?

Good question. I don't have a deck yet but if I wanted to protect the metal my first thought is pvc pipe, cut a section out of it so it just fits over the pipe then either hose clamp it in a few places or screw it to the steel.

I was thinking of split-cutting 8-10" sections of ABS and putting velcro to hold the split closed making them movable

I am going to look at how much of the beaver tail i can add guide to with rivets.

on the hinged ramp "gate" i might be able to heat the glide and bend around the round bar only allowing it to hinge up, also protecting the tailgate from dents:face-icon-small-blu

Just want to make sure i am not getting rid of the cross bar traction benifits.
