Hey guys,

Bringing some SD boys out to the Snowy range over the Christmas Holiday and realized that some of them do not have beacons...:(

Is there anywhere in either Laramie or somewhere else where I can rent some beacons for the days we are out there?

Thanks for any input:)

I'm not sure of anyone renting beacons, best bet would be Joe(snowcross338) or maybe Cody at Snowy Mtn Lodge--he has the Yamaha rentals up top. I'm running down to Laramie this morn, I'll stop by Maverick and see if by chance they rent them. Dan

I just talked to Maverick in Laramie and they do have beacon rentals. $25 per day. Hope this helps.

so anyone have their number or website? sounds like a good deal to me, were gonna have to rent some of them

Better number! 307-721-1024 talk to Scott or Clay! Their website is linked to my website too, or the Saratoga Spa and Resort, formerly the Saratoga inn!

if you can find some place that rents them great. BUT you also have to show them how to use them.

"if you need to rent a beacon you don't know how to use it & when you don't know how to use it then it becomes worthless." one of many things i learned in the avy class.

No offense flatlander...but we all have high school diplomas (not to mention the multiple Master's degrees most have) and I guarantee a beacon isn't the most sophisticated piece of equipment we have run in our life times:):)

Thanks to everyone for the information:D:D

what kind of degree you have has absolutly NOTHING to do with this & won't save your butt when your out there.
i thought i knew how to use a beacon until i took the avy class. i realized i knew how the beacon worked but didn't truely know how to use it when needed. just trying to save some heartache & hope someone has the common sense to explain things to your friends.

taking an avy class is the best thing i have ever done.

First of all flatlander by taking an AVY Class you are not an expert. Nobody knows everything about avalanches and they can happen on any hill at any time. I am pretty sure that somebody can rent a beacon and learn to use it if they spend some time practicing before they head out.

10-4 I gotcha I didn't mean to come across wrong the thing is that most of the people getting in the wrong spots and doing wrong things out west are people from the midwest so the better prepared we are hopefully we can cut down on avalanche deaths

flatlander...I know what you were going for!

Most of the guys coming have been to avalanche classes and in fact one is the President of a SD club and attends all the state snowmobile conventions where they ususally have that Duffy guy attend:) We will be safe and that is why I am trying to find beacons for the 2 guys that don't have them...

Not that I think THEY will ever get buried...but if I ever do I want them hosebrains to have a beacon so they can come dig my a$$ out!!
