Exactly, it will get you hurt or worse in a hurry.

Yeah I am very lucky it didn't trigger something worse. But the avy danger was low, I jumped off that very same cornice the week before, and I jumped off of some very similar cornices next to that one probably 3 minutes before that happen. It just goes to show you that accidents can still happen no matter how careful you are. It's just a good thing I wasn't on my sled! That was going to be my next move!

Doesn't look like the slope actually let go? Just the cornice fell and then rolled down the hill, correct? That's what it looks like, and if so then the avy danger was in fact quite low....otherwise that could definately maket it slide. Sun beating down on a big overhang like that is not so good.
