bd blow off

i have bd 25 apex turbo and i am new to turbos . is the blow off set or do you have to set it . going to run 91 gas so 8 to 12 pounds .i live in ontairo so dont no if make any differnce.

i should have said better it is a pump gas kit . last week i had it out turnd all way down it was at 12 pounds . talked to reed at boon docker and he said to turn the rod on side of turbo . that would trun boast down .. i need to have it go down to say 8.9 pounds and then i can turn it up . but if i set blowoff so i can not go over 12 should or or do you just keep a i on guages remeber i am new to turbos .

You're not understanding the difference between a Blow off valve and a waste gate. The waste gate controls the amount of boost and the waste gate controls the boost when letting off the throttle.I suggest you buy the book called "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell,you have a machine that is going to cost you a ton of money if you don't understand it. It's not we don't want to tell you. It's just that by the time you ask a specific question,it may be too late.

There are a couple different ways to control the boost, waste gate rod and a boost controller, ultimately the waste gate still controls the amount of boost.

there is a waste gate actuator that has a smaller spring and it opens at 7lbs. I just put one on another boondockers kit that didnt want to run race, just pump gas. You dont really want to mess with the rod, that only is going to really mess with the function or range of motion of the waste gate. if you dont have it set to specs/ closed then its going to be dumping all the time. So just order up the right actuator and ride. The one you have on there has a dump rate of 10lbs or 12lbs.
