The final details about BCA's Float 30 Avalanche Airbag are still being worked out. However, below is what I know.

  • BCA expects to release the packs sometime the end of October. However, there still may be hiccups along the way with prototypes, so nothing is certain yet.
  • The Cost of the Pack is $499 and includes 1 Full Air Cylinder.
  • The refill details for the Air Cylinders are still being determined, but BCA is currently planning on performing the refills (or certified dealers) at a very low cost.
  • The volume of the Airbag is 150 Liters
  • The storage capacity of the backpack is approximately 30 Liters

We will have a prototype at our booth at HayDays. (Booth E28)

I tried the airbag on with a helmet and the helmet does not interfere with the airbag.
You can view my cell phone video of the airbag being deployed on our website.
We are currently taking pre-orders of the airbags.

Is there any posibility of a package deal of the float 30 and the new tracker2 to possibly save a couple bucks?

The tracker 2 details are still not known. I'm hoping to have more details soon, but as of yesterday BCA couldn't provide any definite answers. Once we have both the Tracker 2 and the Float 30 in stock, we will definitely consider a package deal.

any chance you'll have them at the Denver Snow Show? I have an ABS now but have a good friend that is interested in the BCA due to the economical price and would like to take a look at one before buying.

how the the pack fit as far as size??? is it say more like an escape or a vario in the abs line??.. or totally different

We are planning on having them at least as a demo pack at the Denver show and the SLC show. Due to the timing of the pack, I don't think they will be available for sale yet though.

I would say that the BCA pack is totally different, but if I had to choose which it is closer to I would say it is closer to the Escape.

hydration?

Hey snow big deal, is the float 30 going to have a place for hydration pack like the stash packs? Some people have said yes.

Love the stash just no air bag.

Snowbigdeal, thanks for the info. You said there is no 'external storage' does that also mean there are no straps for carrying skis or a snowboard on the pack? I looked at the picture and couldn't be sure. Thanks

My understanding is that the pack originally had a place for hydration; however, that has since been removed.

Same as the hydration answer.......my understanding is that the pack originally had a place for ski straps, but those have been removed.

I'm not sure why they decided to remove those items, but my guess is it was to speed up the design and production of the packs.

Refills

I just ordered my Float 30 from you today. My question is, their website said you would be able to refill at any paintball shop, is that still true. I would hate to have to sent the canister off like the other packs. also, will they be selling extra air canisters. Thanks.

Interested.

Will there be any units for viewing at the Edmonton snowmobile show?
I am also wondering if the storage is 30L including the airbag, or not.

It is recommended that you send the canister in because there are some O-rings that need to be checked. However, with a little training or guidance, they will not be difficult to fill on your own.

We will not be at the Edmonton show; however, that is not to say that BCA will be there or not. I do not know.
The 30L of storage is the approximate storage space of the backpack. The airbag compartment is separate from the storage space of the backpack.

Finally a more affordable airbag pack. So my understanding is that the canisters on the BCA bag don't need to be sent away to have them recharged? Is it compressed air or C02? I'm very interested in this pack. It looks good and I think 30L of storage space will be ample for my gear.

The BCA canister uses compressed air. BCA is requesting that the canister get sent in to be refilled by a trained person. The canisters are a little more complicated than just taking it to a Paintball shop to get filled, but that isn't to say they are difficult to figure out.

Release date yet?

Wondering if anyone hase heard of a set release date, I was last told by the BCA rep. at the Washington snow show that the date was looking like the end of December. With all the snow thats falling in Washington it would be great to have one on it's way.

my bro in law said he saw them at Walt Healy's in Calgary already
I will call this am to confirm and get a price
