I drive a plow truck in the winter on the highway, I was plowing slush off the road making my way to town to get fuel and a coffee @ 730 am. The slush on the road was heavy and it was still dark out i was going west and a pick up was heading east. This truck started to crowd my lane more and more and this is all happening fast now. At this point i couldn't move to the shoulder eny more. The snow banks are five feet high and behind them is a cliff. This was going to be a head on,I decided to ditch my truck and hope for the best.He still hit me, but on the side of the western star i smashed the snow bank hard but didnt go over the edge thank god. The first thing i did at that point was called for a ambulance on the radio. I got out of my truck and ran over to the other, there was a young girl standing by the chev pick up. I said "thank god your ok" she said "im ok but my boy friend is pinned and cant get out" When i went over this guy said "hey bud" F%ck its a sledding Buddy go sledding with some times!!! Hes trapped and theres fuel poring under my feet!!! His pick up is in the middle of the road, hes trapped and were 200m from a bad corner on a slushy hill. "NOT GOOD" Logging trucks are busy right now he was a big bowling pin waiting to get hit again. I ran back to my truck got on the radio again and said "if any trucks are heading east theres a accident and i got a guy trapped slow down and get this message out!!" I called my foremen and said for him to get out there to stop traffic. I had to get him out, you know the stories of the extra human strength?? Well i thought it was bull crap to, but i pulled on that dash as hard as i could. I did not want my buddys truck to catch fire and watch him die.Well he got him self free, and was a big relief .The ambulance cops came they got them off to the hospital and i stayed behind to help with traffic. This is when i got pissed off i would have ripped my foremens head off that day if he came around me! He left me out there to take care of the whole clean up, it took for hours to get my truck out with our loader and a big wrecker, i had to take control of the whole situation and tell the cops the wrecker and the rest of the people what to do while hes in town?? I felt like i went a round with chuck leddel im sore and wet and cold. And i find out after when i called for him to stop traffic so my bud never got hit again he stopped for a f%cking coffee first! What felt good at the end of the day was a message on my phone from the girls mom, thanking me for how i reacted her kid not getting killed.

Great job! I spent a lot of years doing heavy recovery, I know the feeling. Not many people will assess what 'could' happen while this is all transpiring. They get too caught up in the moment. As far as your foreman, I'd read him the riot act.

Awesome, make sure you pawn off the first round of drinks the next time you go riding with the guy. As for your boss, you and whoever told you what your boss is doing need to approch his boss and tell him what happened. People that are that professional with their jobs are not needed in management positions and need to be either demoted or let go. Managers are to be examples to empoyees and that is a piss poor example.

Thanks guys, i cant get out of my mind the what could of happened thing and having a hard time sleeping i thought this would just make me feel better i guess. As of right now i would like to quit my job but i got two little girls to look after so im stuck here for now. It pays good and full time. I love the job but i truly hate the foreman. "Hate" is such a strong word, but i do. The owner of the company doesnt live here and doesnt see the bull sh!t that goes on. I look after things get the job done and he gets the credit. Although this year they gave me a $3000 dollar Christmas bonus which was confidential and that was nice.

I believe in the book "Art of War" by "Sun Tsu" theres is a translated quote or story. "When you are stronger and have advantage over your enemy do not hesitate. For hesitation will only allow your enemy to reposition and reinforce his weakness. In doing so your enemy will not hesitate when you are at the disadvantage" Moral= Bury the fugger before he ever has a chance to turn the tables on you! Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row so you don't sound like a whiner. Have all your evidence in order and documentation is all the better.

While you are hating yopur foreman and even though he may be a big *** he may also be theguy that praises the work you do when the owner ask's about things. You did get a bonus after all. Just a thought,.

I have to agree with Fosgate. If you want things to happen, you have to make them happen. I dont buy into the things will all work out eventually mentality.

Your boss put lives in danger with his laziness and incompetence. If I were you, I would pursue this. Who knows, maybe you'll end up with his job!

Theres a difference in a boss that pushes you and seems like a hard azz to bring out your best and a boss who pushes you in hopes that you'll quit or that you'll fug up and he can fire you for it.

Great job.

However, why did the guy hit you? Drunk? Asleep? What?

He had crap tires 30% tread and caught the slush. I had a awsome weekend, hung out with my wife and kids yesterday and went riding today in deep fresh powder with my buddys.I go back to work tomorrow and like i always do i start the work week out fresh and try to put the crap in the past:)
