Hey guys. Really hate to start a thread such as this but I'm just looking for clear opinions on this.

I'm coming from my 09 dragon 800 155. Have rode my
Buddies pros a little as well. I'm weighing the option of picking up a low miles (100-500mi) used 2015 pro 155 or spend a little more and pick up a 2016 axys snowcheck le 155 2.6

I know the issue at hand with pro, and needing a fix kit or drop in kit and then fuel controller, Canceling the warranty pretty much right away.

Looking for opinions from some of you that have perhaps went from a pro to now An axys.

Thank you guys

i went from a Dragon to Pro , and now Axys. to me each model is just as improved as last. if the price is close go with the Axys! the bit i got to ride the new Axys , it flies very nice, very balanced chasis

I went from a '12 155" to a 2.6 155". It's geared to 2.25 and running a 36" front end but hot damn! It's phenomenal, it was almost unbelievable how great it felt compared to my pro-ride chassis. I can't wait to get it out of the break in.

You dont need a fix kit right away and i dont know why you would with one that has a warrenty.

If it's affordable...why not the Axys? It's a refined pro with more of everything that makes the pro good IMO.

If you want to save money, buy a 2015 pro. A 2015 with 100-500 miles most definetly does not need a fix kit, I don't care what anyone tells you. You should be able to ride that sled for a couple years with worrying about that.

You will spend a lot more on an axys. Pro's don't hold value especially with everyone wanting to get rid of theirs for an axys. Not to mention dealer hold overs etc. You may be able to get a smoking deal on a Pro which is a great sled and you would love coming from your dragon.

Second, the fix kit idea is waaaay overblown. I'd worry more about the crank on the pro before the top end. I have personally ran about 8 different pro's all with well over 2000 miles without a single engine failure or problem. This is without adjusting oilers or anything. Plus, if buying a machine under warranty just leave it be. If it fails warranty it and don't stress about it.

Good luck in your decision. Really, you will be happy with either sled....maybe a little happier with the axys if you can choke down the hefty price tag.

I understand the pro having warranty, but I'd hate to still launch a motor on a trip if it could have been kind of prevented is all.

Thanks for your guys input.

How much money are we talking?? Think about re sale, bet you end up actually spending more on the Pro. In a couple years your not gonna be able to give a Pro away with 1,000+ miles.

If you can swing the money for the Axys its a no brainer

You've got bad info on the fix kit for a 15 - not necessary, and depending on who does the work, you may end up with nothing really fixed. Compared to the 11/12's, the 14/15's have had a very low failure rate.

Unless you're gonna will the sled to your kin, or ride alot of trails with the Pro, get the Axys. Resale will make up much of the difference in price. Leap ahead.

The used Pro is what an $8000-8500 sled today? I am pretty sure you are going to dump at least $4000 more than that to pick up a new Axys. I do not believe that it is just a little bit more you have to come up with.

I have had '13 and '14 Pro's and now have ~180 miles on the Axys. The Pro is an awesome machine, it will up your game from that IQ big time, you will love it. They are a pretty good bargain right now too.

I concur on the idea of a fix kit in a 500 mile sled, that is a waste of money. At 2000 miles, a top end on the Pro is a good idea.

That said, so far, the Axys is head and shoulders above the Pro. It is MUCH faster, it is lighter, it gets up on the snow better, it changes direction like it is wired into your brain. It is a game changer in the industry IMO. I made the stretch after considering a '15 hold over and so far I am glad I did.

This idea about the Pro having bad resale is crazy. Take a look at all the brands used, they are ALL taking the same depreciation hit. Used '15s from anybody are $8-9000, '14s are $7-8000 and '13s are $6-7000.

Yup i hear you guys on resale and value.

I've never personally owned a brand new, no miles, has warranty sled. I am now able to financially make that step of picking
up a year old or brand new sled.

I've considered the used or left over 15 pro simply based on you can get them for 8-10k area. Which seems like a lot of depreciation on a year old couple hundred mile machine, but I do realize it is because the axys is now out. So an axys you would think will be the same (for the most part) machine for the 3-4 years figuratively speaking like the iq and pro ride chassis was. In turn holding value better over the next few years.

I'm just on the fence on saving 3-4K on a lightly used sled vs spending more (burn also getting more) on the newest chassis

I appreciate all of your guys input!!

Put your Dragon up for sale if you want to experience depreciation....

Who knows, with all the talk of rpm fade after 500 miles on the new HO, maybe it is the next '05 900 or 800 Dragon. Maybe the old Pro will prove to be the better bet than the first year Axys. Only time will tell.

Sleds are a losing proposition period. Buy what you like, what you can afford, and enjoy!

Dragon went bye bye last night! Sold it in less than 24 hrs. Bought the machine 4 seasons ago for 4800 sold it for 4000. I also put a lot into it (fix kit, vforce3 cf reeds, pipe, pcv, dumper boards bumpers, ect) but I know what you are saying

Here we go...
We are going to hear fade fade fade, worst sled ever.
I've seen it on hcs. A handful of people had something causing a sudden rpm drop last year on short track 800's
Polaris sent a group of engineers out for a week to ride and work on 3 of them.
Supposedly fixed those 3 sleds with in a week or so. Most issues if I remember correct was belt issue, clutch issue, tips issue.

I personally have a short track sled and it was down some rpm at the end of the year. I changed out the belt and had dealer check stuff over. Everything checked out and rpm seems to be better but have not been able to test it a bunch since there is a lack of snow consistently so far this year. I do hear some are finding a issue with the base line setting on the tips with nothing hooked up to it. Should be .700 I read with nothing hooked up then start setting the tips procedure. Apparently polaris manual skips this procedure and others who had a issue with rpm and did this fixed there issues.
Out of all the dealers I know in mn. They have not seen piston or compression issues as of yet! That's great news.
Also the majority of people have had no issues! Like always the squeaky wheel gets the oil / attention. Anytime someone yells out a potential issue people jump on the bandwagon.

Im pretty sure this is not the sky is falling issue some are looking for

You did very well on that sale! Around here that is a $2500 sled tops, nobody will touch them. My buddy sold his '05 900 RMK for $1500 with a brand new motor this fall, he got the same money for a 2000 800!

I just hope the Axys doesn't fall into that category, I will need to sell it in a couple years for a new one...

I believe that Polaris also has a 3 year warranty on in season axys sleds right now vs a 1 year on the pro. Also something to consider.

I am sure you can add warranty to a new hold over '15. The problem is, if looking at new, even if you start at $10k for the '15, but the time you get it out the door with warranty it will be $11,500 or more. At that point the extra to get into the Axys was minimal.

I am sure the OP can find a used '15 with extended warranty though. It would be a must for me on the Pro.

I was checking craigslist the other day and saw new 15's for 8799 i think. Still tough to know if its worth going to the Axys, we'll see if any of my sleds sell. In the meantime it's nice to see how other peoples are working out. Also, whoever told you the 15 needs a fix it kit was wrong. They've been doing great. The axys does look sweet though...
