the picture in zacs thread is wrong and so are the hill details. The hill was about 200ft high in a bowl shape. A slab about 2ft thick, 100 wide only slid about 50ft.

Hmm....I wonder what that means. Did you follow the links all the way to the CAA Coroner's report?

I am very sorry to hear about the difficulties related to the recovery of your friend.
Sometimes snowmobiles are an asset as they can aid in the escape efforts, however, once the snowmobile has lost control it can be very hard to get away from to avoid the trauma. The same can be said for helmets. Sometimes they save a person from trauma, but sometimes they pack with snow and restrict breathing. It is sometimes hard to know what is best. There just doesn't seem to be any sense to some outcomes.
