avalanche bags

Each airbag has its own features that make it unique and fit each person differently. The one that works the best is the one that you'll wear because it is comfortable. I have talked to several people who don't wear their pack because it isn't comfortable and they leave it in their truck.

I personally ride with an ABS Freeride because it is lightweight and holds the bare essentials. The new BCA Float 18 should be a great new addition to the airbags, we will have them in stock this week.
My brother rides with the Avi-Vest because it distributes the weight so well.

PM me with any questions or fee free to give us a call. We have all the airbags in stock and can speak to any of them.

Last year i rode with the BCA float 30. It was a nice pack and fit me really good, about the right amount of storage. After my last ride I pulled the handle to deploy it and all I got was a bunch of air being released and the bag didn't fill. I told BCA and they inspected it and sent me a brand new one (mine was the 2009 model.. and they sent me the 2011). They didn't say what was wrong with it.. which i would have liked to know. I was impressed with how good they were to work with.... but if i had needed it last year i would have been screwed!

does any one use these packs? Is the 15 to small? how much storage is in the pack?

Thats a little scary. Was that the first time it had ever been deployed?

Yeah... When i bought it I ordered 2 canisters (so you can deploy the one and then send it back) but the one had a leaky valve and was almost empty when it showed up. This time i'm definately going to deploy it before i ride this season.

Does anyone else think these packs are a little over priced due to the fact that the makers of these packs know we need them. I think they are a great tool to have, but does it really coast this much to make these packs and retail them?

I was thinking the same thing, but how much is your life worth?:face-icon-small-con

Did you check your air pressure before you deployed it?

They are supposed to be at 2700psi. That goes for any pack(as far as I know anyways)...lower than ideal pressure and you run the risk of improper deployment.

I'd check the pressure before my rides.... I think it was supposed to be around 2500... but cant remember. I just remember that the needle was always in the green... The problem was that the air never made it into the bag. Hopefully this new ones better... but i'm still using my beacon and common sense.

thas the beauty of the systems that use compressed air vs. nitrogen (i have the avi-vest) - simple thing to check 'em and refill 'em. any paint ball or dive shop can fill your canister for you. my guy here does it for free! i check mine 3 - 4 times a season, good way to get familiar w/ how hard to tug the trigger, how quickly the bag deploys, how large the bag is when filled and where it "sits" on your back and how it affects your movement / vision, etc...

I have the 15 whereas my dad opted for the 30.

I can fit just enough in my bag and keep it light on my back. I try to pack my liquids on the sled, helps big time)

dad never wore a backpack before, he loads his 30 up and has no issues packing it around during the day. After half a ride he was amazed at how "un-noticeable" the bag was.

Little bro also has the 15 and loves it. I was thinking of selling my 15 for the 20 this season but I really don't need to, it's been the best packpack I've ever had, and it's a avy bag to boot!

Three happy Snowpulse customers here!

No compressed nitrogen.

Not sure it would be very pleasant to be buried with compressed nitrogen leaking out of the bag. The bags have a good success rate at keeping you on top, but its not 100%. I decided against the ABS for that reason. Went with a BCA 30 and it has been a great pack and easy on the wallet. These things arent that complicated, there is no reason for them to cost $1200.

Air is 80% Nitrogen and 19% O2+ 1% misc gas. The ABS when triggered also draws air in from the outside to fill the bags.
The idea is to stay on top of the snow so you do not get buried.
