In order to use it, you need to check the water content and strain it. Not something we have to do when we get it from the airport, but something you should do from a tank. You can use Iso-heat or another type of water absorber to get the water out.
I have always used at least 2 gallons of AV with 10 of Premimum in my fairly stock sled. Polaris 2001 had a slightly larger taper in the needle (about half a jet size) in the mids. I was getting mild detonation in the mid range, even with the AV. Fixed the problem a long time ago, but I still run it. Also 2000 and 2001 where notarious for bad crank bearings; cranks went around 1100 to 2100 miles. I had over 7000 miles on the engine before I decided to have it rebuilt and it was still getting 74 hp at the track. I may have just gotten lucky or it could have been a combination of things, regardless, I am still going to run the AV. For me it was a slight octane boost and I saw slightly better performance, but if it had too much AV, I lost performance. You have to have the right balance.
How old is this AV? AV only lasts about 6 months before it starts to go. If it is more than a year, I would not run it in your sled.
