Automotive Rust Around Salt Lake City ???

Trying to find a newsed vehicle and one just like we're looking for popped up in the greater SLC area. Am looking for something in the west or southern states (out of the rust belt) but not sure how a vehicle in that area would rate in the "rust free" stature?

Are the roads in that area sanded or salted?

Is salt from the flats in the air enough to be of concern?

Is it common to see a 20 yr old truck NOT all rotted out?

EDIT:

I guess we are gunna pass on this one for now.
Would have deleted the thread as there were no replies yet, but that feature seems to not be turned on...

Good move...,
Some of the worst rust buckets I've seen are out of slc.

All the those wanting to slam the Idaho opinion, I have four sisters that live around sl.

I would personally inspect before buying.

Hey Ox, if u can't find what you're looking for down south, look in the PNW area.
Been here 4 years, kinda, and it seems the wet side of OR and WA are very kind to vehicles.
First, no salt, never really freezes. Of course if it is sitting on the coast, diff deal with salt air.
Sun never shines so paint and interiors stay nice much longer. More vehicles are garaged because it rains all the time. Never seen more places with shops, 2nd garages etc.
The rain keeps the undersides of vehicles clean as a whistle, no build up of 5 yrs of mud behind rocker panels etc.
also think the rain by default, means less wear n tear on drivetrains since it's wet 8 months of the year, a lot more feathering the gas on takeoffs. Evidence is my tires last ALOT longer here than anywhere else I've lived. CO, Midwest, southwest, AK.
Bought a 94 Chev pu a coue years ago in Seattle. Hadn't seen the inside of a garage in years based on the 2" thick coating of green stuff and pine needles.
After cleaning it up there was zero rust, paint was like new shine, bolts underneath weren't all rusted to chit.
Take a look up here.
