04 chevy door pins and bushings. how do i replace. can you do it with out the special too to press the pins out. i don't know why they wore so bad started at about 36,000 miles and now have 100,000 and can't stand to drive it if you have cross wind it whistles so bad.

You can do it yourself, go down to most local parts stores and buy two hinge repair kits for your truck. One for the top and one for the bottom. You should find someone to help remove the door. You unbolt the bolt on each hinge, unbolt the door retainer bolt, (all three are 10mm) pullout the rubber protecting the door wires. You then will remove the fuse panel cover and unplug the wires for the door. Now the door should be ready to remove. Grab the door and lift off, the bottom of each hinge will stay on the truck. The kit should have instructions from there but what happens is you will grind off the bottom to each pin and pound out and then install new pins and reverse the whole procedure.

thanks. i was wondering about if i needed to grind the bottom of the pin off. the new pins have just a cir clip on the bottom. so the door will just lift off if you take that 10 mm bolt off each hinge. that makes sence now. me and my dad looked at it for 15 mins and couldn't figure it out
