1890 miles, still ran great, pulled apart to put new pistons and shave the head, probably didn't need it but I have always put new top ends in my sleds, no matter what brand, every year. I would rather spend $500.00 as preventitive maintence as apposed to $2,500.00 when the $hit breaks!
07 800R,
First piston squeeked at about 3500KM, had it back for about 2 rides and the other piston went. Ran great until the days it squeeked, at about 4500km now.
my xrs has 1600 miles, has ran better than my expectations other than the normal issues these sleds had. Decided to keep it for a second year hope it will make it to 3000 miles! I was thinking about doing the top end but it seems to be about even money b/n the pistons or the crank going, so why waste money on a top end if the crank is likely to squeek.
So is anyone actually noticing a difference between the 07 an 08 engines? My 07 went at 4000km and they replaced it with an 08 engine (with the "r" stamp at the tensioner). I was told they gave more clearence at the bearing on the new engines so I'm guessing it will run forever now
They are still trying to get a good spark, replace the driveshaft, and upgrade the display software
So far on my 08 they have replaced: bad computer/ECU, ignition, short block, sleeves, pistons, both exaust valves (which where snapped apart), and throttle cable.
