ATACC on 800 with Twins

I am considering putting a compensator or my 03 Vertical Escape with CPI Twins. What I'm wondering is what kind of luck people have had with this setup. Whould I be better of with a Dial Jet or will the compensator be good enough? Obviously I want the compensator, but with twins I'm wondering if the compensator will be reliable enough, or if the Dial Jet setup will be a better choice. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I had the ATACC system on my 04 Vertical Escape 800 and never had an issue. My brother also had it on an 02 Vertical Edge 700 and it ran great as well. The couple times that I had little questions, I called them direct and they were a world of help.

Was your 800 stock? What I'm trying to ask is how reliable and good they work with twins vs. stock.

i had an ATACC on a full blown 07 mod sled. 600 punched to 797, twins, porting, heads, etc, etc...

after that experience i would never run any carb sled without one. it worked that well. in fact i installed it when the sled only had a single. it worked so well with the single it was the only reason i tried the twins. (i enjoy tuning and wrenching on sleds in my garage, i HATE f'ing with sleds on the snow) i ran that sled from below zero to 45+ degrees and from 0 to 5000+ feet. ran perfect everyday, all day. follow the install instructions exactly and set it up as stated and you shouldn't have to worry about it again. plus, as stated above, the customer service is spectacular. they spent lots of time with me on the phone answering all of my dumbass questions.

anyway, long winded answer, but to sum it up, they work as advertised and i was extremely happy with it. the ATACC was probably the best "mod" i ever put on any sled just b/c it worked so well and kept me from every having to screw with my sled on the side of the hill. (for jetting reasons anyway...) good luck.

No, I had the SLP single pipe combo, reeds, gutted airbox, extra flow rights, clutch kit and few other goodies. I was a little leery right away but after it was installed and a few questions answered, I had no regrets! My brothers 700 had the pipe combo, reeds and some other stuff as well and it ran great too.

My experience was good, and I would recommend trying it out.

Keep in mind that the ATACC system can become uncalibrated and make your sled run like a dog. The good news is that you can get them recalibrated from what I read. Just thought I would throw that out there. A few of my friends had them on their sleds and they work as advertised.

I know many people think that these things are a silver bullet and I'm sure that was true for them, but my experience was a little bit different:

If you're going to use the Ataac, be sure to pull that little hose once in awhile so it can recapture the air presssure and reset your baseline. I found that it gave mediocre performance and after about three days at higher altitudes I'd be rejetting. Some guys loved them, but that was not my experience. Ultimately I pulled it out, stopped chasing my tail because of it and jetted the old fashioned way. Way happier that way. Just MY experiences. Good luck

You are right, I was always told to pull that little hose on "high pressure days". I also re-jetted when I went out west to re-establish the "baseline" Once I got out west I never had a problem.

I had it on my 03 Vertical Escape with SLP single, gutted air box, reeds, porting and a shaved head and it worked great. I used it from 3000ft to 9000ft without a problem or rejetting.

The system works, but as said it's not perfect. It does bleed off with time and needs to be recalibrated once in a while. If you roll your sled or ride hard you can get fuel into the lines and lose compensation....then you have to pull the lines to clear the fuel and if your at altitude you just lost your baseline and you run rich until you can get back to your baseline altitude. I liked it when it worked but the drawbacks outweighed the benefits in my case.

I've had it on my 03 800 mod for 5 yrs and i love it!!! it will lose it calibration over time just pull the little blue hose for a bit, the sled will be doggy, then hook it back up and it will be set after a few minutes. i would recommend it to anyone that does not want to sit and jet their sled on the side of the hill all day.

This is the info I was looking for. Other than recalibating it every now and then, it has got to be better than rejetting all the time.

I had one on my 03 vertical edge for about 3 years, sled always ran good, but if you want it to run great I recommend spending the 10 minutes it takes to jet and just jet it. We also had one on a 900 1m with the same results. Just my .02
