ATACC do they work?

some problems some may be having is if you happen to roll your sled and any of the hoses fill with fuel, you will have problems. and if you don't have a good seal for the clear hose you won't get the right vacuume (sp) you need. but other than thoes two things to look out for they work as advertised.

Seems like a big problem considering a sled is NEVER rolled ?

This compensator will automatically keep your carbs tuned through all temperatures and elevation changes of up to 8000 feet (2400 meters). The standard compensator is set initially for operation with -20F (-29C) carb jetting for use with snowmobiles, but can be set to use with any jetting temperature. It is also easily set for any operating base (minimum) altitude. This compensator is recommended for the mountain rider who wants to play, not jet.

So for those of us who ride at 11'000 and higher, this thing dosent offer much ?

I've had a dealer installed ATACC on my 03 700 RMK since I bought it in 04.
+30 to -30 and sea level to 6000 feet. Zero problems in 2,500 miles.

In fact I'm getting one installed right now on another 03 700 RMK I picked up last year for the wife.

The Vari-Flow may be a better product but the ATACC isn't junk.

!

The ATTAc Works !!!!!!!!!!

The polaris dealer in Tromsø LOST sled sales to Doo, cuz the stock Poo
did NOT work without any compensaiting like the ATTAC ore Doo`s DPM
I sold 30-40 kits to him i think in 2004-2005.
I also mounted seweral on my own customer sleds, cat, poo, and Yammi.
zero problems.
And the instruction, read it twice and you v
will understand !

attac

I thought mine worked great on my 03 700 polaris vertical edge until I raced someone on the flats. Bottom end and midrange was always great and it even ran the proper rpm on top but you could litely feel a surge at wide open throttle. fought this for over 2 years, finally unhooked it and jetted for the elevation and gained over 10mph. Didnt quite understand it because the rpms stayed the same but it pulled way harder all through the power band. I run without it now but If you are not a performance freak I believe it would work fine. Mine was baselined at 2000' but my problem riding area was about 8500'
Good Luck!

Website says they will only compensate to 8000'......

I run a Tempaflow (temp compensation only) and it works well. Only thing you have to be careful with is when you stop with a warm sled. The heat under the hood will cause the thing to lean out your mixture. If you start it up and immediately pin it, the carbs will still be leaned out until cold air now getting sucked into the airbox has a chance to adjust the orfice in the compensator. Piston damage can occur.

I try and remember after it has been stopped for a while to start it and let it run for a bit to allow the airbox temp to stabilze before hammering it. Might not be the easiest thing to do when trying to get unstuck on a big slope though.....

:beer;

I ran a variflow on an 02 Vertical Edge for years and it worked great. I jetted it so that I could run the sled at home after the occasional blizzard and then run it up to the mountains with no issues.

I always try to baseline calibrate mine at 6000 ft and last winter rode to 12000 ft with no problem. Baselining at home in MN at 600 ft and then trying to go to 12000 ft more than likely would have had poor results.

Good Luck

I have one on a 600 with twins and it works well. I think the 8,000ft they talk about is an 8,000ft change in elevation, not the max elevation it will work at. Jesse.

I think its a great product. I had an 02 800 RMK and the crank blew. So I rebuilt the motor with an engine-tech 900 motor. I also installed a digitron and got the jetting all dialed in. Wash was perfect egt's were 1150 on both cylinders. I then installed the ATAAC and the motor ran more consistant with the elevation and temp changes. I would definetly buy again!

Some of you are not reading correctly. It will work at any elevation but it will only adjust up to a 8000 ft. elevation CHANGE. If you install the ATACC correctly and your sled is tuned correctly they work well, end of story. All the information you need is in the instructions. I have absolutely no problems starting the sled after rolling it. It tells you what to do in the instructions so that doesn't happen.

There is nothing different between a Vari-Flow and an ATACC except the automatic compensator.

I've rode from 1,500 ft. to 13,000 ft and -10F to 40F. No problems except it gets a touch boggy above 10K feet. Remember it only corrects for up to 8K feet elevation change.

Not so big problem, all you have to do is look at the hoses to see if there is fuel in them and drain, re-install and ride again. pretty easy i think.

Yes you are correct on the 8000ft of elevation change from base line jetting.

I have the ATACC as well on my Polaris Pro XR800. It runs perfect once jetted as per wash, plug, and EGT readings and within it's parameters it works perfectly! Not bad considering I have reeds, porting, head, twin pipes, and intake mods. They say in the instructions that your window narrows with more mods that I have, but I've run from -40F to 32F at 800-7000ft.

The only issue I've had is when the temps get over freezing (32F) it starts to run rich on WOT at higher elevations. The instructions are clear on the limitations to the elevation, but what is the window for temp once the baseline is set? I know resetting the baseline elevation to 3000ft will help open the window back up for mountain riding and will try that next time.

Very good thread, but it is really important to follow the instructions to a T and re-read them twice before starting the install. Hose lengths, and airbox install applications are very important. As well, try to mount the temp compensator as high as you can in your airbox as advised in the instructions to allow the fuel to drain out and you will have no troubles. I have rolled my sled tons with this setup and have no problem starting my sled afterwards. Honestly, my ProXR starts up easier than my '07 M1000 with EFI, go figure!

r-tech-norway built my rmk800ves engine and installed ATTAc on it..Works Exellent now during 3 seasons!!..Did a new dyno last month just for fun and it still is adjusted great!!
