Which sled would you choose? Both need mods but which is better start point?

Ordered an assault LE!!! Just like the idea of having the shocks already and the quality of the sled feels higher to me. Don't really need the extra cooler where I ride so decided I didn't need that extra weight. Now if summer could just hurry and be over!

As mentioned above I had a 12 Assault with a powder track and it worked great. But now, that girl is down the road (sold to my brother) and a 14 Pro RMK 163 is on the way.

While I really enjoyed the Assault and it worked well, especially the shocks, I wanted to try the narrower front end and more track. I had the opportunity to demo an Pro RMK 163 and what little time I had on it, you can notice a difference between the two.

The plan right off the bat for the new 14, is either new shocks or having the existing shocks upgraded with piggy backs and a re-valve.

After a few rides and being able to jump back and forth between the two, I'll be able to report back with more information.

Yeah Im the opposite. used to ride the long sleds and made the switch to the shorts to improve my riding. Makes me work harder and riding is more enjoyable. Plus they are easier to get unstuck when my riding group can't find me.

Had a 12 rmk and a 13 pro both 155" and now I am ready for the assault. Just want something I can ride a little harder and not worry as much about. I definitely like to be in the air as much as I love the tight trees so that makes the decision easier. A narrow front end is in the works but I guess I will ride it first and see if its necessary.

My dealer told Me the same thing.

Turned out I was able to snow check the Assault with the 2.4 series 5.1 track. My dealer told me that it wasn't offered online, but there is a way around it. SC is extended for today and tomorrow I was told.

Your 12 and 13 were both 155", so what were you running for "longer sleds" before? With upgraded shocks on a Pro RMK, you can ride harder and not worry about anything. Like Mountainhorse said, besides shocks, there really isn't any thing more "heavy duty" on an Assault.

The Assault has the wider front end, no sway bar, better shocks, chain drive and different approach angle on the rear suspension. Little changes here and there but nothing major. Honestly, both are great sleds!!!

I ordered the assault le. Shock work will be done, skid relocate, bars and some storage before it hits snow. If you have a good shock guy you can get the WE shocks valved pretty good for the assault. I am ditching all the red off the sled, I don't like the red at all but the le was the same price for me through my dealer. I paid $11,700 OTD.

For me... The shocks are a non issue as I change them out anyway.

Big diff in price...With for that you get a higher capacity cooling on the RMK-std.... And already have narrow arms.

I really like the pivot steering post too.

Send the shocks to Holz and re-valve and piggy back less than $800.00.
Great bang for the buck.
