Argument on ethanol wires...

For those of you in Alaska.... The 90 octane fuel that we run contains NO ethanol. It is made using a normal distillation process. I have run this fuel with an ounce or two PER GALLON of Isopropyl alcohol in my 08 and 09 D8's religiously and have not lost a motor. All the time running with the wires plugged in. As mentioned earlier, don't loiter in the mid range, pass through it quickly, and be on and off the throttle alot to control speed if need be. This should at least help to protect your motor. It is utterly frustrating for us to be in this situation for sure, and for those of you with multiple issues, Polaris definately needs to keep stepping up. I am really tired of the whole thing to be honest, after all, it has been what, six reflashes? At the same time, dealers should be making sure that everything is right when that sled leaves the shop. The oil pump being turned up high is not helping anyone keep their engine running. A 40 to 1 ratio with the proper type of oil is plenty to keep these engines lubricated properly. Anymore than that is a waste of money in my opinion and does not help your sled to be "all that it can be" in the performance arena.:beer;

I am from Sask Canada....running Shell premium fuel....have wires plugged in...have two 09's, a 600 and a 700 and both when running mid range, then hitting throttle, stumble at around 7500 rpm and feels like engine will die...almost do a lip skid!!! let off, it catches up and is fine....guess I should try to run with plugs unhooked??
Maybe I should just run 87 octane with unplugged for 94 cents a litre vs. 1.07 a litre for premium....thoughts?????

I have a '10. on AK 90 pump gas, wires plugged in, i had a stumble. I unplugged it, and it ran flawlessly. Got the flash and ran with wires plugged in. no issues except the fell on its face (WOT it would just die) 3 times. changed plugs (which where milk chocolate brown) with NGKs and never had that problem again. Just cant pull more than 8050 rpm now. Will try unplugged next weekend.

is it worth it to plug the wires together? is there really THAT much difference? mine currently are unplugged and i dont know if i want to plug them together.......

Yes there is a very noticable difference. I called the fuel distributor I know and found it isn't used so I plugged them in and took a rip. Ran like a scalded dog. I checked my plugs when I got home after about 11 miles and the plugs were so bright I unplugged them and never looked back. I've thought about installing a toggle switch just to have the power on demand for a race.:face-icon-small-coo

pulled wire on my 700 and it still stumbled...but not as bad...noticeable, but not as bad...at least no lip skid...just slight stumble....brutal!!!

Unless your sled has had an updated reflash your wires are not activated

really????? so on my 08 700 it dosent matter plugged or unplugged eh...nope its never been re flashed ever or at least since purchased in fall 08.

it has alot of power....well for a 700. motor runs flawless and i disconnected the celinoid from the VES

I have never never unplugged my wires and I am sure I have ran ethanol gas. I always fluctuate my throttle. I have always thought holding the throttle in the mid range is suicide on a 2 stroke.

I did not know about that mid range thing....my boat is a two stroke and I do tons of mid range....years in fact...never a problem???

regardless, mid range or not....why is the sled stumbling when we crack on the throttle???

mine did not have the stumble before the reflash, I have the latest flash that is suppose to cure that. we'll see
