I have family in the coal country back east, I've seen what the lack of unions can result in (company housing), and I've seen what evil unions can do (wildcat strikes)

If unions wouldn't protect the lazy, and make it impossible to hook up your own work bench, and didn't steal from the employees, or mislead the employees, and didn't threaten people, and didn't pay bribes, I'd be a true blue union supporter.

Unions always squeeze a company during a boom, and then sit back on the contract and refuse to do anything during a bust cycle. That's how they hurt a company.

The average assembly line employee makes about $29 / hr. The pay isn't the problem, it's all the other stuff.

They have there place, when history repeats itself. But, I will endeavor to never work with union people, that limit my right to work.

I dislike the union. Yes back when they started it was needed very badly. Now they just leach off the workers. I dont need a union rep to hide behind. I dont need a union rep to negotiate my wages for me. I work for a non union company now that pays the same wage as the union companys and from what I understand my insurance is better. I have been involved with two differant unions. Both sucked....Dino

Well said! Someone who understands the benefits of what the union can do and the reason it is needed.....as well as the misguided path it they have wandered down.

Would not a better solution be to restructure the unions as to benefit those that deserve and eliminate those that don't while still maintaining strength for labor and it's compensation, to hold viable in a given economy?
