People think a vaccine is a guarantee that they will not get the disease or sickness. That's not true. In reality they are not the effective.

Here's Some irony and something to think about and yes I think "we" are becoming pansies.

I do anything possible to stay out of the Dr. Office. In the last 15 years I've been in the ER 3x. 1 broken ankle, couldn't help going in. 1 slice in my head from a tool getting away from me being careless. Blood running down my face to the point I looked like I was in a horror film. I cleaned up thinking it will be fine but got nudged/urged/forced by the wife. The 3rd.... (a physical) was an argument and a put off and almost a cancellation because I was feeling fine so what would be the point of it other than wasting money. Because I was 42 my wife felt it was time for a physical. In the physical, I was healthy just as I thought. Then they scheduled blood to be looked at. I seriously argued that its another waste of money and time. Blood came back low(anemic). I blamed diet. They said we think an ultra sound is in order. I seriously argued that. Did it anyway. They found nothing. I new it, another waste of time and money. They again wanted blood a few weeks later. No improvement. But I feel good and who knows this could have been this way for many years. So, they strongly urge a colonoscopy. I said no way, another waste. This is where I became really torn. I absolutely didnt want to go. My entire family was bossing me around about it to go. So I did. They found a tumor in there! Immediately scheduled surgery to remove it. It was cancerous. I did have some lymph node involvement. I do have chemo every 2 weeks and I still think its a waste of time and money. Seriously, I've never felt so good in about 15 years. I'm told "otherwise" I'm very healthy. So in 4 months I've been to the Dr weekly. With all this I think I'm lucky it was found early but I really still believe there's a lot of waste. I can't wait to be done so I can go ride in the snow. Sorry so long winded but felt like it was a good point to make. A lot of the "tough guy", "don't need a dr to tell me I'm ok", "I don't feel bad so I'm good" thoughts are just stubbornness and in some cases fear of what is unknown. Eat right, stay active, be positive and don't get fat.

Oh 1 more point to make of the irony. I have only shared this with family and a few close friends and here I post to the masses. Go get checked!

The last few posts reminded me of one of the best threads ever on SnoWest. "A man touched my berries today" It takes a man to admit that on here....and pages of great replies/comments.

What's better(worse), a crusty old man dr touching you there or prepping you for the scope.....Or, a very attractive female dr's assistant? Keep in mind, the lighting is not dimmed, it is very bright and the room rain snow mixed.

A mans mind tends to wander a bit when a hot nurse is touching in or around the mom and daddy button. So I'm thinking the old crusty guy would be the route to take. Don't want some nurse to be telling the "guy that was fully torqued" story for the rest of her career!

You know, I always thought to myself I would rather have a woman do my DOT physical, I just didn't think they did do them on guys. Then on my last DOT physical before I let my CDL lapse, I actually did have a woman :face-icon-small-blu. Not super hot, but not Quazimoto either. It was still awkward but, I think I would rather have a chick. Call me a homophobe.

Oh and Snomow, In that particular situation, hot or not, I don't think it could stand at attention if you were pumped full of Viagra.

Now that we've totally derailed this thread................:face-icon-small-ton

Oh to be young again!! Right summit?

Watching an HBo special as we speak about brain injuries. "the crash reel". About snowboarders, x games athletes, etc. The female snowboarder that died in 2012 in Utah during a training run, "Brooke" something, she spent a few days in the hospital and her medical bills were over $550,000. WTF? Really?

The amount of care given to her was probably unreal though. That said, staying in a room over night at a hospital is stupid expensive! Not to mention "renting" a surgical space to be operated on.

Beings that you seem to know ALL the ins and outs of every facet of the medical profession. Why don't you give us the low down on the good and bad of the modern medical word. Because I'm not rally seeing any of the good side right now!
