Are these sleds pretty evenly matched? SRX and Summit

I need to get 2 sleds but I want to keep them fairly even so we can both have capable machines. In my price range I'm considering a 98 or 99 Yamaha SRX 700 and about the same year Summit 670. One would be mine (I'm 5'10 180) and one for girlfriend (5'2 120). I have more experience then her, she would need the tamer sled but should grow into it quickly enough.

if you are going to be riding in deep snow stay away from the srx. its a screaming fast, triple/triple heavy lake runner. It does handle good in the trails for a triple/triple. If she is small girl it will be a handful for her. off trail the srx short track is a tank. For the GF I would look into a MXZ/summit 600 or a 600 polaris edge/RMK. The motors are bullet proof and they are ton lighter than the srx, and have plenty of power.

i've had both. srx is a nice trail sled but wont compare to the summit in the powder

Honestly do NOT buy any pre '00 Yamaha mountain sled if you intend any off trail riding. With work and $$ they are great. Find yourself a RMK 600 around them years or even a 1999 summit 600 they will have plenty of power for her..............SRXtreme

yeah, get a zx chassis doo, or a gen 2 polaris of those years, they are freakin cheap, but very capable sleds that will get you around. those yammi tripples SUCK in deeper snow, watched a kid fail out riding on last winter in 2 feet of fresh.

tode with an srx sun, would make o good dozer, only way it would stay on top of the fluff is if it was on a rock/stump,

nose divin boat anchor, run good on the road

Im pretty sure your gf would have hard time starting a 670, big stroke and lots of compression on those ho's (;)) plus the 44 mm carbs are rude on the thumb. The 700 tripple is easy to start.
