Compfusion mounts, about 4-5 weekends on them..... Are they toast????

I don't see any tears into the mount other than the one in the upper left with the tear on the outside. But, some of them look like they've worn the inside part out a little oblongish.

Wow, that don't look good at all.

Just out of curiosity, what made you check them so soon after the install ?

I made the mistake and greased the urathane pucks in Oct. ,, Took it out one time,,200 miles,, and demolished the red urathane pucks,, tore horribly... I missinterpited the comment of,, keep the surfaces clean before assembly,, i thought dirt,, thought grease would add life.. Wrong !

So i pulled motor 2 weeks ago,, put in NEW red pucks,, clean no grease.. did 200 miles on them.. i see red dust crums and some melted purge coming from stainless cups.. My sled did get to 175 for short while going into a town.
I can't see these lasting me but a few more rides... Im stock, Michigan trail rider.
If they destroy again,, im putting back in 06' mounts... Not sure whats up w/ these,, if it lasts for all you mountain guys w/ nitrus and mods,,, why not stock 900... I put in new 06 rears too,,, no belt blowin and clutch shieves cool. SLP vents,, cranks fast... 24 top gear stock bottom.
All i can think of,, last ride on first day it was real, real icy,, and going into corners kinda slower, in that vibration RPM range of 4200 - 4700,, maybe miles in that range started making them throw red dust. Or do these have to break in,, and will throw dust for awhile then slow..

Had the motor out to replace the rear mounts, which were replaced at the same time these were put in last year.

did you have an oil leak or some sort? If installed properly, and kept clean they should last a long time! Oil will soften them and they can "skip" out of place. Mine have over 2000km on them and look like new

Damn, some of you guys are unlucky. 2000miles on STOCK 05 motor mounts. No more vibration that any other sled i've owned.

There was minimal oil down in that area and on the mounts themselves. None sitting in the cups and I really had to pry on the bottom ones to get them to come out for a bath.

If a little bit of oil is going to cause these to go bad.... then I would question their effectiveness in this application since it is basically impossible to keep all oil/chemicals away from that area.

Colin suggested putting the good ones toward the engine and check for gaps on the the rear mounts between the engine and mounts. Other than that... I've got about 4 more rides planned this year so we'll see if they survive I guess.

If I were you I'd order up a set of '06 mounts just in case. That way you do not loose ride time. Have been using '06 mounts and no problems. Replaced not too long ago just as a preventative maintenance. They were still great after 2k miles just starting to show signs of cracking. Couldn't see why I should spend a few hundred on front mounts then another few hundred on a cross member while I can get '06 mounts for $40 a piece. Not knocking on Colin's product, just funds are tight living in the arctic. Heck a gallon of milk is $15, 13 on a good day. Gallon of polaris blue is 45 and ves gold+ 60 so use the blue with no problems.

I've got a set of the '06 mounts sitting here, still debating whether I should just go back to that route or not. You using the SLP push/torque arms?

$40 for rear mounts?? That's pretty good, I just paid $57/ea from the local dealer (plus $11 shipping), at that rate the replacement mounts from Colin are cheaper even after shipping. Talk about a hosing..... dealers are selling them on the internet for considerably less but I thought I'd give the local guy the business.

39.79 each for the fronts and 24.86 each for the rears, so roughly 130 for a set of fronts/rears +taxes. They are '06 stock mounts a pretty good deal from Parts Pit Stop found another site also babbits similar prices but heard a couple horror stories from there customers.

EDIT-yes I am using the both slp arms. And regularly check clutches for alignment monthly.

While reinstalling this sucker I noticed that the rear PTO mount was about 1-2mm away from the engine block, found a washer that fit in there real nice and tightened it down. This was after I got all the other bolts in and just slightly snugged down, all other area's looked like they fit nice with no gaps anywhere but there.

Wrapped the front mounts as good as I could with aluminum tape to hopefully keep some of the heat/oil/residue away from them and built a bigger plate to cover the throttle bodies and area under the Y-pipe.

Well today I thought I would take a look at my compfusion mounts after seeing yours on this thread. The mounts have 7 rides on them and they look like they are falling apart.

Wow no kidding falling apart. Maybe Colin received a bad batch of pucks? Hopefully you will guys will get this resolved.

Hmmm.... Put mine back together with the shady looking puck on the bottom, but I fully expect to tear it back apart to replace them by the end of the season. Yours looks considerably worse than mine. How do your rear ones looks?

My rears look perfect, just like brand new.

My Comp mounts failed very quickly. I went back to '06 OEM mounts plus a billet front crossmember (which I feel is the biggest issue), and had no more issues.

Why do you think Crossmember is an issue? I just ordered 06 mounts, so glad I paid a ton of money for mounts that failed in 7 rides :frusty:

Z-Man, I and many others have had the crossmember break. I may be wrong, but I believe it flexes too much. I went to a billet crossmember, new OEM mounts and L-9 bolts and had no more issues.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be sledding.

I have a billet one too but I have never heard of one breaking unless you install Compfusion mounts on it.
