Got the alpine gauge bracket (the right one finally).. went to put it on tonight.. however there isnt enough wire to run the plug to the back of the gauge.. unless I unhook the headlights... However would like to continue the to use the headlights.. is it ok to splice the head light wires with longer leads?..

Also I went riding this least weekend gauge worked fine.. Today when i unloaded the sled.. the gauge worked fine.. however did have a little condinsation on the inside of gauge.. brought inside to dry off.. Will it be ok.. or will the water eventually take out the gauge?

thanks rocky

There's a rubber gromit that covers the lead plug (wire harness) into the back of the guage, make sure its completly on. Moisture may work its way in there. If its already in there, its tough to tell if it will roast it or not.

Splice the wires is fine, ive done it to many Apexs and Nytros.

Ya the rubber gromit was on good.. so I guess I will just have to wait and see

but cool... thanks darko..

I just extended the wires to my gauge because they were too short and rubbed through the factory harness guide, caused all kinds of problems. The head light wire is the light brown one don't use butt connectors use solder and shrink tube on the connections,if you can't solder it get someone to do this job for you.Take a close look at the wires were they are supported by the "C" shaped support for the harnesses going to your handle bars, the heat from the turbo melted the rubber coating and 3 wires were rubbed through, melted and like I said caused a lot of greef.Use electrical compound on the harness plugging into the back of the gauge and a zip tie fits into a grove around the boot like it was made for it.Good luke guy.

Thanks for the help.. I actually legthned out the wires for the lights.. so we will see how it works.. i didnt soder them.. i know thats the way its suppose to be done.. but didnt have the stuff to do it.. used waterproof butt connectors and then heat shrink over the top.. hope it works.. put di-electric grease on all the connections.. great idea with the zip tie over the boot.. that will be done tommorow.. :D

turn your steering to the left and right and watch for the remaining wires from the left side of your sled(when sitting on the seat)if they get tight best be extending them next chance you get, you'll have more symtons then you want!p.m me for details on soldering these if you want its easy, heck even I can do it.
