anywhere to ride this weekend?

Anyone hittin the hills

Anybody takin advantage of this white stuff on the ground this weekend. News just said White Mtns and Cantwell got a good bit of snow. Anyone able to concur.

I know some guys are going to Summit tomorrow and will give me a report when they get back, also talked to a couple guys that went up Davidson ditch today that said there is 30" on the road over the top :o I've got breakin fuel to burn so that's where I'm going Saturday, Sunday back towards the Yukon.

I called the Cantwell Chevron today, they said they had 6" there, and I got a call from my buddy at his cabin near Hurricane and they had just shy of foot, so i would imagine the Igloos got about a foot too, maybe a scosh more. Im headed up there to Hurricane tomorrow, hopefully I can put a swamp ride in at least. :)

I'm predicting flat light, 15 MPH wind and 16 inches of snow with no base. Watch for rocks.

I'd go but my sled isn't together.

My friend that drives to Fbx 2x/wk called tonight & said the deepest snow between Anch & Fbx is @ Trapper Creek A lot less at Cantwell. Sleds are riding the road side @ T.C. and he didn't see any digging down to dirt.

I sure hope you have a BIIIIG living room. You are going to have a whole bunch of us camped out on your floor next weekend if we don't get some snow down this way soon! :beer;:beer;

Does Davidson ditch offer any good boondocking and hill climbing or is it mainly trails and road. That snow looks nice and fluffy and deep. Im down for a trip there next weekend if a group heads up.

Once the snow sets up you can ride anywhere you want EXCEPT on the trail's, most of them don't allow orv's.

Right now the highways closed but places like Birch creek and 12 mile summit should be good next weekend.

"FAIRBANKS - Extremely high winds, blowing and drifting snow closed the Steese Highway between 12-Mile Summit and Eagle Summit on Saturday afternoon, according to the Alaska Department of Transportation.

According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm could drop up to a foot of snow in the Fortymile area.

The avalanche gates at 81.2 Mile and 114.2 Mile have been closed. Crews are working to reopen the road."

sometimes when you post pictures I wish this forum had a "thanks, jerk" button. Ah well, there's always next weekend.

lol ..I'm hoping the same amount of snow fell where we're going tomorrow! :p
