As far as the Assault goes it appears that a lot of guys recommend re-locating to the upper mounting hole. Has anyone messed around with RTSS (rear track shock spring) or the FTS (front track shock) before relocating to the upper hole?
I'm just wondering if a guy can take out enough or some of the "wheelie" effect on the Assault by just increasing the RTSS preload (decreasing the shock length) and leaving it in the stock mounting hole? I know you would have to be a little heavier of a rider to probably accomplish this, correct?
The Assault RTSS comes set stock around 10 1/4". I'm wondering if increasing the pressure by decreasing the spring measurement some where between the stock measurement and the minimum of 9 3/8" and leaving it in the stock (lower hole) would be worth trying? I guess I'm trying to think of other ways to make more minor changes then just drilling and re-locating right off the bat.
On the flip side, a few guys have mentioned re-locating to the upper hole and thought ski pressure increased too much for their liking. I would assume that if this is the case to simply reduce the RTSS spring pressure and increase the measured length as long as your not bottoming out?
I guess I'm just trying to get all the options available to get the suspension really dialed in, not only for me but anyone else out there who's pondering the Assault set-up.
Generally speaking,
A little more ski lift - helps maneuverability "flickable" / hinders hill climbing?
A little more ski pressure - helps hill climbing and side hilling?
Thoughts???????
