Anyone stabbed Rails thru the Power Claw?

Anybody had stabbing problems with the PC and an ez-ryde? I have had the skid for two years now, but the track was a challanger (stock 08 m1000) track. Now I have changed to the PC. With the ez-ryde the track is pretty tight to get proper alignment. But a $90 kit seems cheap to save the track and the skid. My 2 most major mods

just curious - more likely to get physically hurt from one of those AC failures or Ski doo failures people mention above? If there is no worry about that AC failure causing injury then I agree with you.

I never tighten my tracks till they skip..ever..

Then you are loosing traction my freind... there IS an optimal tension .... loose tracks don't hook up as well.... Dont take my word for it.. talk to Camoplast about it.... Or Dale Cutler or Jack Struthers...

Plain physics.

Eric, I dont run them that loose, but I am just slightly looser then polaris spec...I found out over 10 yrs ago running a real loose track hurts performance..a no brainer if you look at it close enough...I run the tension I do because of wear charicteristics I have seen on the hifax over the last 3000+ miles...

The Polairs hyfax SUX big time...

Single ply tracks, like the PC, stretch faster till they take their "set".. on a new sled.... tension it halfway into the first day... then check it before every ride for a while... high perf machines require periodic maint.... IMO... same is true for ANY brand using a single ply track...

The myth of loose tracks run better is just that.. a myth... Really came up when Cat M suspension would not go thru full travel without binding up if you didnt run the track loose.

What you feel on a stand, for resistance, when you pull a track around the rails and what the drivetrain "feels" when running on the snow with the weight of the machine on the track are 2 ENTIRELY different things.

With Extros, especially on a single ply track that will distort more easily, 1/2" of free hang is a good rule of thumb on a straight rail.

Flame away!

well even with an anti stab i've been checking my new P'claw every ride and it definitely stretched a little. i was going for the three finger technique or about an 1.5"-1.75" sag in the track below the rail at the lowest point (no weights just the track hangin). thought this was on the tight side of what people were running but maybe its on the loose side?

I am running about 1.25-1.5 inches on mine, had it about 1.75-2.0 and it would ratchet. that is at 12 lbs of boost though

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I just found out today that warrenty is not going to cover the repairs on my sled and it will cost over $3000.00 to fix it. The dealer and the AC customer service guy are looking into it to see if they will change thier minds. I really hope they will cover it I just got rid of a summit that kept costing money to keep running and now my brand new Arctic Cat needs $3000 dollars to get it running again? with around 200 km on it I feel like I haven't done anything to deserve this. They are saying I ran the track too loose but it wasn't any looser than it was when I picked it up brand new from the dealer. I have 2 friends that are ready to switch over to Arctic Cat next year but are waiting to find out what happens to me first.

3K Seems a little steep to me....really....3K?!?!:face-icon-small-sho

Got my sled back from the dealer and ordered parts after looking at it It needs rear wheels fornt bogies new rail ends limiter strap axel and anti stab kit all the parts will cost around $350 from the dealer I bought the sled from. I can get a take off power claw track for $750 or get a Camo Extreme 2.5 for $800 but I might have to wait a couple weeks for the Camo. I lost the last month of sledding waiting to hear that they won't cover it on warrenty I'm a little impatient right now.

Is the Camo extreme worth the wait? from what I hear you either love the PC or hate it . I only had 200 km on flat ground with the last PC track and I didn't think it was that bad but never tested it in the hills. The Camo extreme is a more durable track and better for spring riding from what I hear (better down hill braking).

I think I have noticed some slight noises since I installed the BDX anti stab (2010 M8 LE). I'm running my track a few turns looser than stock and I've put about 100 miles riding hard in the mountains with no problems at all. Only thing I noticed is that I had to make 100% positive my track alignment was perfect because the nubs on the inside of the track will rub on them when you are running, it is possible that if your alignment is not perfect you could be rubbing on them.

Check the wheels (if its BDX they are white so its easy to see) if they are rubbing against the tracks drive lugs. They will be stained black where they are rubbing if so.

Thats the only thing I could imagine it being.

How exactly is track alignment measured to get it 100% on? Where do you take the measurements from? I understand that tightening or loosening one adjuster or the other will give you this setting but where to measure from exactly is key. Probably from the outside of the track to the rail on both sides. Possibly in more than one location down the length of the rails/track?

Easiest way is to simply check where your rear idler wheels run in comparison to the nubs on the track. When the idlers are running down the middle of their 'track' between the nubs on both side, you've got it right. No need to measure anything. You it can get it pretty much perfect by sighting with the eyes.

I work winters at a cat dealer in alberta and i can say that cat has never refused warranty on a track stab on a new sled with hardly any miles on it. Your dealer should be going to bat for you on this issue. Cat is usually pretty good to deal with.

My experience with arctic cat has been terrible. I talked to travis at AC customer service and my dealer in Grande Prairie and travis told me that M1000 never stabb tracks and they havne't heard of it happening before thats why they won't cover it under warrenty. The guy at the dealer says that its all up to AC about the warrenty coverage and they can't make the call. They also told me that stabbed tracks are not covered under warrenty. Where is your dealership?
