Anyone run without the t-stat?

Just curious as I'm pulling mine to get lower running temps. Something we used to do with our Doo's and many shops were proponents of this (SHR, RkTek, Fastrax, etc, etc.) for cooler running temps. The Pro has a smaller orifice than competitor motors so opening up the flow by removing the t-stat should be a good thing I would think. Don't bother lecturing me about cold shock, I know that to be a fallacy as Kelsey has already pointed out. None of my other sleds have stats and they've run better without!

Have FUN!

Not on my Pro but I did on my 08 Dragon 700.Had a high altitude/compression head from Donovan at http://www.rmxtreme.com/rmx.php and he removes the thermostat.Sled ran in the high 80's in powder. It had nearly 3000 miles on it when I sold it and was still running strong.

Do search on the thread by TRS called $28 upgrade. Lots of good information in there.

I did gut a stat, some have made washers that fit inside the rubber housing/seal. Hard to say on the temp. On the trail my PRO runs hot regardless of what I try, in the powder it holds a pretty consistent temp in the 110 degree range. Let's face it these machines are built for powder not trail riding, I ride with the wife and kids enough to notice the higher temps on the trail days, just going to have to deal with it and be careful.....stop have a drink let them cool, not such a bad thing. I tried the $28 upgrade which really costs quite a bit more by the time you add it all up, I did not notice any difference with it.

removed mine

I tried taking mine out in the spring time. Was noticing 138-144 when running my dropin kit, Temp would be around 90-95 with tstat totally removed...Just took rubber gasket off and used that to seal up the housing.

Didn't notice any performance gains and actually had a problem fouling plugs. Think I went thru 4 plugs in about 50 miles of trying running without the 'stat, so I put it back in.
