Anyone know what would cause a bad vibration that goes away?

Rode some powder this weekend that was dry but packed into everything. About mid day I noticed a bad vibration like the belt had a warn spot.

This happened soon after I used reverse, probably the first time in three weeks. So I changed out belts and it felt good for about 50 yards then got worse as the ride went.

The other dragon in the group noticed it too and he changed belts and said it got better. We put his good belt on mine as I was limping down the mountain, it seemed real bad, and I was not sure if that was it?

Then I put my belt back on and started down the mountain and it was fine??? And was smooth all the next day. None of the belts show wear, just a little glazing.

I looked at the drivers for ice and didn’t see any.

You likely had some snow and ice build up above you drivers that you could not see. I get this from time to time, the best thig to do is flop it on its side and run the track up to speed that will knock all the ice and snow build up out that you can't see.

The dragon drivers themselves like to build ice where the teeth are and that can cause a vibration too.

Ice buildup somewhere for sure.

Yea I have some choices to make,

I was planning on a new PRO RMK. But a season with one sled has had me on pins and needles. So... keep it as an ok back-up, or spend $2k on the fix, track upgrade, etc and ride one more year… or just sell it and have a new one sled fleet?

The decision would be easier if my wife could win the PRO 600 Friday!

spray Marine Grade silicon on the drivers and adj. track to specs and the ice thing will be a thing of the past. most of the time that is.

Ice build-up for sure. Just get rid of the center driver and no more problems...Free and easy fix.

If its not the drivers, I have noticed before that once in a while there is a lot of ice build-up around the rear drop brakcets and up into the tunnel that the track would rub and that would cause a vibration if it wasnt chipped away.

Pro does the same thing..it's ice

interestingly once I developed this weird intense vibration and it turned out to be a small stick caught up in the front of the track between the bulkhead.

It has been so bad on mine, that I have had to lay it on its side and winder up to get it knocked off. Make sure you have the track pointed in a safe direction. LOL you buddies will thank you.

Was hoping they would have fix that on the new pro?

It has been a while since I have adjusted my track so it could be a little loose. And I am known for getting a few sticks in the, well everywhere! so that could always be it. I’ll check the track specs and adjust then hit it hard tomorrow in at least 2’new! and see if it gives me trouble.
