Anyone do a 155 peak track on a pro this year.

Just rode the 5.1 in crappy snow and was woorthless. What is the weight difference between it and the peak? Is it a trencher or does it climb on the snow better? I like the 5.1 in the powder. Is the peak track worth it on a stock pro 155? Does it fit or is it too tight to just bolt right in?

2 guys I ride with both went to peaks on their pros this year. They both rode camox's last year. Both pulled them off and sold the peaks as quick as they could find a sucker to buy them. I know of a 3rd that went back to the 5.1. Bottom line, I don't know anyone who left them on... All said they trenched horrible. Maybe a great spring track, but useless in anything soft. Especially anything dry.

That would make sense. The Peak track is a very stiff lugged track, designed primarliy for turbo sled applications. Softer tracks like the Camo Extreme and the 5.1 dont work as well with turbos because the lugs fold over badly. So hence we now have the Peak. Apparently you can over come the stiiffer lugs with sheer track speed, like the turbo guys have, and when you have more track speed the Peak begins to shine and work well. :face-icon-small-coo

The comparison I want to hear more about is between the 5.1 and the Camo Extreme.

Yes I fell for the hype of the pc and got a trench monster ,,the 5.1 flat works in dry bottomless snow so going back to that!,! as thats what I like to ride,I too would like to hear about the challanger extreme in the dry bottomless snow???

In my experience the Camo Extreme 2.5" gives up little in the powder to the Polaris 5.1 (both 155 tracks), but gains a lot when the snow gets a little more set up (like spring riding)... downhills on the 5.1 on spring snow can be downright dangerous, the lugs fold over and speed picks up more than even the old 2" tracks. I overshot roads before where other sleds got stopped.

I have the Camo X on my wife's D700, and 5.1 on my D800. I did the f-bomb mod to my track and it helped, and really didn't hurt the powder performance in my opinion. But if I had it to do over again I would sell off the 5.1 and buy a Camo Extreme...

Recently picked up a sled with a 163 Camo X and it rocks... of course the 860 doesn't hurt.

Thanks for the info on the "peak" track... almost made that mistake before I bought this 163 sled...

Check out F-Bomb's track mod (just cut the ends off the lugs - about 0.2") - the 5.1 SHINES in marginal/spring snow NOW! And doesn't give up much in the pow versus an uncut 5.1. It's a no-lose mod if you ask me (unless maybe if you only ride super dry powder every day!).

I did F-bombs track mod on my pro. Yes, you lose just a touch in the super deep dry fluff. I don't care what others say. It's that 1st 2 sled lengths jumping up on step. Not terrible by any means, just noticable. Other than that, It rocks and I really don't regret doing the 30 minute free mod!

However, I did run a 162x 2.5 camox under my mod edge. Several others went from the 5.1's on their dragons to 2.5 extremes. Everyone of us agree, it is not only a better track in set up snow, but in the dry light powder as well. For a non turbo sled, I can't imagine a better all around track than the camox. For the guys pushing 250+ hp, that's a whole different world.

I wish that was the case, but Im not willing to compromise any thing in the deep dry fluff,I will suffer in the hard set up snow

It's not what you're thinking - the compromise comes when you pop the sled up onto the dry pow. With the track mod it doesn't initially pop up as fast like theultrarider states. However, once you are GOING there is no drawback because of the gain in track speed so it becomes a wash at that point. If you only run dry pow a week or two out of the year then you're cutting yourself short by keeping it stock (no pun intended :face-icon-small-ton). It's like a shorter lug version of the CamoX with no need for new drivers or a D&R.

Also, since we're on the topic of tracks, I rode a Powerclaw yesterday on an M8 turbo. The guys at Carl's LOVE the PC on the Pro. They do well on stock M8's (ridden a couple of those too) but the turbo was spinning it like crazy in soft spring snow - did not like that track at all, tho 235 HP can probably make a lot of tracks look bad, LOL!

i run a PC on my pro and didn't notice much of a difference between the 5.1 all year in the epic, record setting, dry pow year we had. UNTIL, one of my last rides in more setup snow and the difference was HUGE. i was with three other pro's, a 155, 163, and an assault with a CE on it. there were multiple hills with multiple climbs and the evidence was surprising. i hadn't planning on spending the money to swap out the tracks on the 13 but now i'm thinking it is definitely worth it. my point, i didn't notice giving anything up all year in the dry powder but the advantage in spring time, more setup snow was significant. plus as others have stated, the 5.1 on both sleds, sucked when it came to down hill braking. as in it was making them nervous where it wasn't even a consideration for me until the other two guys started talking/complaining about it 3/4 through the day. now, what is the cost going to be for the new 2.6 PC? and is it worth it over the 2.25 since i'd have to do a chaincase mod on my brand new chassis??

I have a peak on my 2010 m8, and love it once you get past 500 miles or so. Much more aggressive than the powerclaw and not a trencher once broken in. it's a great nw track, maybe not utah blower snow...

Also, you can just trim the outside lugs on the 5.1. No loss of powder performance, and big improvement in spring snow.

Just how much track speed increase did you see.

I have a riding buddy that put a Peak on his Pro. and he hates it, not to mention you cant get within 200 ft behind him unless you are willing to get chunked! It is a serious trench monster. Just to let you know how much he hates it, he has been riding his turbo charged cast iron bathtub that is known as a Yamaha Nytro.

I'm thinking the Camo Challenger Extreme is the best track for all conditions. My question then is 2.25" or 2.5"?????

I gained 5 mph top speed on flats. I never look at actual speed in mph when climbing but I can tell you I had to add 2 grams clutch weight to load the motor more after the track mod!

You nailed it pv. This has been my findings exactly. The 2 biggest bang for the buck on the pro is the pa head, and a camox track. Well, and of course your choice of shocks. Other than that, clutch it, and ride it.

The camox is an amazing track in a very wide range of conditions.

I think PV is saying that the Power Claw is the choice track. Right?
Also, do you still have a chaincase to modify on the 13 to fit the bigger lugs?
