Taking my sled out for the first time. New to Mtn riding, is this a good place to go for someone starting out?

just ride the road at cottonwood. once you get comfortable veture out to the fields on the backside of the pass.
Make sure you dont go alone. There is high Avy danger
.Be SAFE out there and Stay alive.
Cottonwood Pass rd, or the road into St Elmo would be good for someone new to the mtns. Lots of forest roads back in there, so not too challenging, unless you want it to be, there are alot of play areas on the W side of Cottonwood Pass.
Make sure you have beacons, etc, even riding up the Pass road, there are areas that slide across the road. Haven't been up there yet this yr, but it's an awesome area to ride!

I would go to Cottonwood.. The local snowmobile shops have a good map of the area and the maps are usually at the trailhead by the sign in box. Also on Cottonwood there is enough people that if you stay on the main route that you will run into quite a few other sledders.
I bet you are going to be blown away and soon will be a mt rider for life!
