Anybody ridden from the Chalk Creek gas plant.

That used to be the way we would go all the time. If you got a fast steathy sled you might can do it. Its all private property that way. It was back in the Rupp days too.;)

Thats where I unload all of the time. When you come out of the trees, you are pretty close to the base of Avalanche hill or as others call it Yamaha hill.
You MUST stay on the road up until that point, because it is all private. Actually Avalanch hill is private as well but as you know it is just fine to ride where ever up there.

I have ridden out of the gas plant about 8 times this year. Last saturday I didnt see to many rocks up top. Its allot better of a ride to go up the fence line trail than the main road. I dont think they have groomed the main road yet this year.

Rode from the gas plant last Friday 1/30. Was pretty decent coverage - very few rocks. We always ride the fenceline trail - I can't stand that road! Had an incredible ride back into the lakes and ran out of fuel in nearly every sled with us! Good we toted some spare that day!

Rupp days eh Kev! I rode out of there in my Skiroule days too! I think I was 12! Had a skiroule chain break on me in SuperBowl - rode back out chalk creek doubled up with my Pops! it was hell!

For those ridding the fence line trail, is that not private property? The Chalk Creek Ridder's club has signs at the turnoff stating that it is private, and to stay out. Just wondering, cause the main road has been brutal as of late.

Never been approached anywhere else, but have been kicked out of Moffit Basin once or twice:beer;

The fence line is what it is, the line between the two private parcels of land. We posted the road to make it easier for the groomer and to direct the snowmobilers to stay on the road, so we would show that we had enough use for a groomer. I would advise staying on the road, since we had to create the snowmobile club to retain winter access into the area. It may be rough at times but it sure beats going all the way around to soapstone or even bear river.

it is a hell of a lot better than going around - so if road usage is what keeps it open I'll bite the bullet and do my part!

So I always wanted to check out the ride into the Moffit/Whitney area from Chalk Creek... after doing it this weekend, I have to wonder why anyone would want to come in that way!?!? what a waste of sled gas!! I would have rather wasted the car gas going through Evanton and down the Mirror Lake Hwy!!
