Anybody going down to a 15" track?

Trinity can you keep us posted on this. I am very interested to see how the XP will respond to a 15 wide.

Shawn

I will. I think it will work out to be a good switch. Stock footprint is 2464 sq inches(16x154). The Camo(15x156) is 2340 sq inches. That's pretty close. Just about the same difference as a 144 to a 151, as far as square inches go. She's going on this week!

Yup, you just wasted your money. Good for you, thats what money is for, right?

I went from a 151x16 (2416 sq in) to 162x16 (2592 sq in) and kept the small rear idler wheels to get more floatation and to keep the nose down, and it made a huge difference. Much better performance. Places I would have been stuck in just floated past.

I like wasting money.

Nice tunnel extension :D

Yup, that "tunnel" extension is a beauty! I guess I'm not so worried about floation. Otherwise, I'd have a 163 or a 174. I'm looking forward to the extra bite from the 2.5 paddles. We'll see;) Almost forgot. If the 16" track was that much better, Poo, AC and Yammy would have them. Right? Or a 16.5" or 17". I think the 15" track is alot like the 800 class; tough to beat overall.

i think the 15 wide, 2.5 will be better than stock.
i really think the track "design" and lug layout is more important.

i've been wanting to try a 15 wide 162 on my Nytro...

on another note, i really liked how much more playful my rev was with a 151x16x2.3 vs 159x16x2.3 the difference was very noticable..and for me..worked and felt better for my style.

track choice will always be opinionated. :P

if you like the feel of the track, and it works for you...DO IT!
if it sucks, and you hate it, well, $ is $, you can spend more to figure out what you like, right?

The funny thing is the "layout". The two tracks are identical other than the lug height. The Camo Extreme isn't ported, but other than that, they are spot on. I'm a jumper/all arounder. The Highmark is only one of the things i'm after:face-icon-small-con:eek::D

THe guy I got the Extreme from put a Powder Claw under his M1000. It looks wicked! Let us know how the track works for ya Revpilot:face-icon-small-hap

I like the trees and boondocks

I am dropping the 16x162x2.3 powdermax for a 15x153x2.25 Maverick.... mostly for the weight savings and add the shorter more playful sled for a bonus in the boondocks and tight woods.

Its just MHO but with @ 200hp and a 15x153 if I cant go wherever I want I probably dont need to be there.

The RT with the 162 is just plain like trying to drive a crew cab longbed in a Taco Bell drive thru.... LOL

I hate it unless its four foot deep fresh fluff...:beer;

That's what I hear. I think it should make for a pretty good set-up. Are you running one Chazzer?

I actually bought a 162x16x2.5 extreme. My cousin has an RT 1000 and put the same track on (different pitch. he went 3") and the sled was night and day from the stock camo. My old mans xrs has that 'lite' track on but is getting a little beat up so he's taking my challenger track and im going with the extreme.

These tracks have yet to let me down. My kk900 was good with the a20 but when changing tracks to the extreme it was like a new sled! Way better! When the sled starts to bog down with the a20 it wouls just get stuck. With the extreme it just keeps going!

My opinion with the 16" wide is if you can do it then do it. I'm 6'3" 245 lbs so i need the extra track if I can get it.

I'm close to you Chazzer; 6'3" 235 lbs. I'm gonna try that Camo in hopes of a sled that's a little more playful. Floation is good, but floation is also drag. That's why I want to try the Extreme. Smaller, less float/drag, but more dig/traction.

I've been thinking about going to a 15 wide since last year, just having a hard time with lenght and what track.
Had an 08 154 last year and traded for a new one.
I didn't know if I drop down to a 15 wide, if I should go longer are keep to a 154?
6'2 200lbs

We do alot of tree bashing playing and hill climbing.
I rode a 163, it didn't seem as fun, not as quick.
Debating between the 2.5 extreme track or the new powder claw.
Does the powder claw have every window open?
I can get an extreme for $650 and the Powder claw for $550

Trying to give the sled more flickablity, its to stable compared to the other sleds.

We had 5 tracks go bad on us last year all 08 154 powdermax tracks.
Hopping to gain some reliablity also.

It'll be interesting to hear what you have to say about the 15" wide TP. I really thought about it but decided on the 16 wide extreme. Just waiting for the driveshaft to be replaced to get the track changed.

When riding the d8 it seamed to spin alot but that could be the soft lugz on that track VS the stiffer camo lite on the xp. I thought it may have been the extra traction/floatation of the 16 wide. Who knows.....

Keep me posted. Really curious.

P.S.- I hope to be at your weight soon....... :)

Chaz

That ps is funny. I was 205 this time last year:eek: If I don't get serious about working out 235 lbs is my natural weight. I felt great at 205! I'm currently starting the "process" all over again. Kids, jobs, yards, etc...and the occasional cheeseburger aren't conducive for setting the highmark. Hence all of the $$ spent on motor mods and lightweight parts:face-icon-small-ton

yeah that new powder claw track i heard work's great! i'm thinking on buying one! but I have no clue yet. need more info on those before i go out and spend a grand on one!

good luck with the 15"

Trinity-
That's one cool looking paint job on your sled! Ya know Evil Knievel had to loose a few pounds too to fit into his white jumpsuit after "a few kids and cheeseburgers". Let us know how the track change went. After the childish posts of "wasted money", we hope you'll still reply to the interested...
