Anybody Going back from Nytro to Apex?

Well, after riding this season on Nytro's, is there anybody thinking of going back to the Apex? I've been thinking about it, but the Nytro is just SO much better once you get the hang of it imho...

good question!!! been wondering the same myself  will you sacrafice the easeness of riding to go back to the larger HP? or stick with the good horsepower and the ease of a newer chassis?

how is the handling different between the two? once you get used to it, is the Nytro easier to control?

Apex to Nytro is like ZX to REV...I've done both those conversions, and let's just say I'm never going back to the ZX...

People were saying the Apex's would still be king of the mountains this year, but when guys like Irmen climbes with the Nytro, things look different...I just don't know...The guy I ride most with has an Apex...I like it in some kind of riding, but the Nytro is WAY better all around...If I could afford both I would... Was thinking of getting a 1ton-turbo as a backup, but then I rode my Brother-in-laws 03 RxMountain, and that reminded me what sled it was...

So...I think I'll stick with the Nytro for next season...Powderlites Nytro stage 2 has more hp than all Apex's stage 1.... Looks like the way to go....

id say, very interesting post obr........

Will watch this thread carefully, im very curious to see what others have to say

well boys, after taking my tnytro out yesterday I'm sold on this little unit. what an amazing ride, and the power is incredible. I think the nytro pulls harder then my tapex did. ran it at 11 pds boost yesterday and I've got arm pump from holding on. seems like it hits harder. same amount of lag as the apex. looking into powderlites rb3 box as a remedy for the lag. Yammi keeps stepping it up!!

Why would you ?

I think it is even a little more extreme than rev to ZX it might be more like ZX to XP...they are not even on the same planet as far as ridability, and fun factor...IMHO...

Apex here

I have a Synergy mid mount Apex with the Rapid Bike box and it simply rocks at 14lbs, hands down more responsive and fun than my buddies mcx Apex and mcx Nytro.
The RB box is the reason I can run 14lbs with premium, the mcx units with the same boost run 50/50....all three have head spacers with bone stock motors.
As for nytro Apex comparo....I wouldnt trade my Apex for the Nytro......however I'm not comfortable on the tippy Nytro...with more seat time im sure that would change.
In the mean time I may change my mind when I can buy a Nytro done right up for $15K at the end of next season.

The Nytro is a sweet ride but I wouldn't trade for one yet. It's going to take the new Apex replacement to get me off this Alpine Apex, it freakin rocks. It seems the Apex is a better fit for us bigger riders and at 6'5" and 250+ lbs (geared up) it fits me pretty well. From what I've seen and heard the Apex is still more stable and predictable when pouring on big boost in a climb. To each their own, the performance of both sleds is limited by the size of you balls.

talking with a guy at the yamaha dealer a while a go he said stock to stock he would pick his nytro and turbo to turbo he wasnt sure yet cause his apex made more power and was dialed in.... (mcx) i dont no i wanna try one of each personally turboed cause im almost ready to go the dark side.... :D :face-icon-small-win

The dark side is a whole lotta fun!!!

I know what you mean. Been riding the phazers since 84 and the doos since then. Both are awesome machines! When something goes wrong with the Tapex, I jump back on the Rev. With the turbos bro, no looking back. Fun factor that I have never experienced with sleddin' The dark side is always open. Reliabilty is the answer. 30,000 miles on Yamis and the only breakdowns were a pull cord and a broken secondary shaft on a moded M. Max. Friend rode the backup M. Max with the parking brake on for 2.5 miles until the belt was pretty much totalled!

its hard to admit but every thing on my doo this year has pretty well broke except the motor is orginal.... the stuff i have fixed is usually fairly cheep or random bolts falling out but i cant keep a belt on it no more for some reason starting to make me right pissed off i use to get 1100 1200 miles on a new belt... i dont no what to do look at cats 2010 chassis the xp with extended warranty or a used turbo yamaha for a bit more reliability one thing i do know i have rode a polaris long enough to no i dont want a iq :face-icon-small-win :)

Ive said it over and over, the nytro is where it is at. Im a big guy (6'8) and would ride the nytro anyday over the apex. More forward ride makes it feel roomier and repsonsive to imput as you ride it. Will be on a nytro next season for sure, apex is already out the door and nytro on order.

The way I see it, the Nytro will fit more people better..I like it for most parts...if your not an ACTIVE standup rider, I would say the Apex is still a smoother ride... I'm still debating on what to do..just put my Nytro up for sale, and was down at my dealer just now..he had an 06 Apex there that I'm thinking about... But...I think I'll regret going back to the Apex...Maybe we need both...but, a bad season on an Apex is still better than a good season on a Doo....

I think I've figured out what I'm going to do next year. This year I ran my turbo RX which is now pretty much an Apex and ran my Nytro stock for spring conditions, the wife to ride, a backup etc. I'm going to keep the Nytro non turbo strip off 70 lbs and try to get another 20 horse out of it, and add more track and suspension. On the deep days I'll ride the turbo and on the not so deep days I'll ride the Nytro. I love riding the Nytro as it doesn't tire you out and is an easy sled to ride but I can't help but believe that 2010 has to have an Apex replacement coming which will in all likelyhood is where a guy will want to be if he keeps his sled for 2 or 3 or 4 years.

If it were me looking for a sled now I'd pick up one of the smokin deals on a used turbo Apex and keep a Rev or Nytro as a backup.

Exactly. Gets pretty expensive to build a full mod every year. Just as well wait for the big Daddy to come out, for me at least.

And if you're into jumping off a kicker all day, and that type of riding a 144" Nytro XTX may be your ticket. When it comes to the Steep and Deep....well, we'll see about that next year right Hyflyr. LOL :face-icon-small-win J/K

Keep pluggin those nytro's boys, it keeps softening the market on used Tapex's......:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:devil::devil::devil::devil::devil:

lol, i didn't think the apex market could get any softer. there are going to be some sweet deals to be had on the apex's, especially if and when this new sled comes out. gonna be another year till we find out.
