Anybody been on Rabbit Ears/Buff. Pass

There is no grooming yet. I think the snow needs to reach a certain depth before the Routt Powder Riders can start grooming per the forest service and its hard to groom with very little snow. The trails were rough a week ago and the snow of trail is minimal. The dealers in town are selling a lot of a arms. We got no snow in town with the last storm, just a lot of wind.

Rode Buff Today! Was pretty nice! Made fresh tracks. Only ones on mountain all day.About 2 feet of fresh! Had really good rode ride. I was mainly testing out rebuilt sled. Had to play a little though. Good snow but still alot of land mines. Be carfull guys. Had trailer tire blowout on way back. Dave at North Park Inn Helped me out. What great guy! Can't say enough about Dave.

Oh I'm sorry IDAREYOU.. I didnt bring my tape measure. Just guessing. Mr negativity!

Just got back from buff. The tower shows under 4' on the stake. There is not 2' of fresh powder up there. A foot in most places with a little more or less depending on the wind. Still a lot of rocks and downfall in the trees in most places. You can ride, but if you go blasting through everywhere you will be buying parts for your sled.

Spent the day on Buff Pass and it's definitely worth going up to ride. It's December snow, but still awesome.

Yuck. And it's darn cold out there right now. I had -10°f this morning when I went to work.

The Powder Riders cat went across the top today, that would be trail 1A, be very careful on the trail lots of stuff just underneath the surface. The Powder Riders will Probably be heading south towards gore by the end of the week, enjoy but be very careful...

Rabbit Ears/Buffs Pass

We just got back from Walden and rode Buff fri and Rabbit Sat. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the snow was on Buffs Pass. Deep in the trees made for some great boondocking and we found alot of untouched meadows. The land mines are there but if your just a little aware there not a big deal. 6 of us rode and we only bent 1 a arm. Rode Rabbit Ears Sat and thought the snow was great on the east side and plenty of good snow in the open areas to carve up, the west side is pretty tracked up and a lil skimpy. That being said we still found plenty of snow to pull some cool hills on the south end (dont know there name but popluar area). We drove 11.5 hours to ride and we were all very happy and had an awesome time! Perfect weather also. Stayed at North Park and again found Dave and his wife to be the best. Antler Inn has great food too. (try the party platter as a meal) :) We'll be going back to Walden for sure, prolly in two weeks. More snow would be great of course but when do we snowmobilers ever say different.

I've driven over rabbit ears pass 6 times in the last 3 weeks and the snow that has been there has been melting off the past week.

I don't know, I mean I'm not one to pee in everyone's corn flakes, but unless there is a massive dump there this week my christmas plans are gonna be stay home and play video games and dream about sledding, cuz the actual sleddin ain't gonna happen anywhere around RE ... haha.

Liar! I was up there this w/e and found no good snow whatsoever!:face-icon-small-win. But seriously, watch for those landmines. Still a fair amount out there. Hit a rock which launched me into a tree which bent my bumper and pipe. Ooops. That's what I get for trying to sidehill in the early season.:mmph:

Glad to see it's gone way up from 3'6" when we were there a month ago.....

And that is why I drove to your stomping grounds. Beautiful place, awesome terrain. But you WC guys are getting slammed. Saw that CB is running his tours up there, no surprise. Also saw more outta-state plates in the lots than Colorado.

Rode up Buff on Wed. in the dark and it was snowing pretty good. Thursday went up top and checked out the stake at the tower and then went into the woods for the next 2 days, figured the stake would look the same every day. It is what it is... but it was enough to boondock and break-in a couple of new sleds. 4 days on the sleds, better than no days on the sleds...

Looking for an honest answer on what the snow conditions are at RE/Buff Pass. Supposed to be coming out on New Years and need to reschedule by tomorrow to avoid extra charges.
Some people say the snow is good others say it sucks, lodges say they are getting reports of good snow up top.
I don't want to waste 4 days of vacation and 12 hours driving to be dissapointed. So just looking for a true report of what the conditions are.

Thanks in advance!

Buff Pass

Rabbit Ears

If it were me, I would save my $$$ for later in the season. But, there could be a big dump up there any time, I'd at least check the forecasts .... IDK, it'd be a gamble either way I think
